About this deal

Also at the bottom of the Fuji Instax Mini Evo, alongside the card slot, is a micro USB port, which you can use to charge up the camera. The flash on the front of the camera will light up to let you know it’s charging, switching off when it’s complete. There's also a factory-reset button in the same compartment.. The mini EVO is a digital instant camera that successfully marries modern convenience with the vintage charm we desire from the INSTAX process. It’s not Fujifilm’s first instant camera to employ a digital sensor and screen to preview and adjust shots before then choosing if they’re worth printing, but it is their most fun to date. You can also use your smartphone as a remote control and wirelessly release the camera's shutter from the INSTAX mini EVO app, which is available for iOS and Android phone.

A further smaller, likewise unmarked, top plate button is a ‘reset’ button, for returning any lens and film effects to normal if it all gets a bit much.

Instax film is incredibly simple to use - all you need to do is line up the small yellow line on the Instax film with the same yellow line on the camera and close the door when it’s in place. Be careful not to accidentally open the film door once you start using the film though, as you’ll risk exposing and ruining the film. Instax prints have an iconic quality to them and the mini Evo is no different. Whether you opt for ‘instax-Natural Mode’ for conventional image quality or ‘instax-Rich Mode’ for vibrant colours. Change how you express yourself in every image. We've no real idea why this limitation exists, and hope that Fuji fix it in a future firmware upgrade. Until then you can work around it by copying the images from the built-in memory onto a memory card, or preferably by recording images to a microSD card and transferring them from that to another device, neither of which are as convenient. The overall layout of the app is incredibly simple to use, but the text could be a little larger for accessibility reasons, and there seems to be a lot of wasted space.

With a faux leather and chrome look inspired by an old rangefinder camera, the Evo Mini is undeniably stylish. The construction is almost entirely plastic, so it doesn't feel as premium as it looks, yet is reassuringly weighty to hold. There are more external buttons than the average instant camera too. Not only do we get a shutter release button on the top plate, but also a second one on the faceplate, next to a built-in mirror for the selfie obsessed and a small lozenge shaped window housing an integral flash. The camera has a quality of 4.9Mp with a focal length of 28mm. It shines best when used outdoors in daylight, but do not be expecting the same quality as what you will find on smartphones. The flash will help with some low-light photography, but the Evo has more trouble focusing on subjects of a night. The camera is primarily designed to be used in portrait-format orientation, so that when the Instax prints are revealed, the larger part of the frame will be at the bottom.Inside it's a very modern device, though, pairing a 5 megapixel digital camera with an inbuilt Instax Mini printer and sporting two shutter release buttons, 3-inch LCD screen, accessory shoe, selfie mirror, flash, a charging port and a micro SD slot. As for the prints themselves, they’re nicely saturated and give a good impression of detail thanks to their small size. They’re fun enough for souvenirs and keepsakes, particularly if you use the camera at a special event such as a party, special trip or a wedding and so on. Instantly print the images you take or send them over to your smartphone for sharing on social media. The choice is up to you.

As well as an image capture device, the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo can also act as a standalone mini printer, connectable to our smartphones via Bluetooth, meaning that photos transmitted from our phone’s camera roll can be output as hard copies. It also means that shots can be transferred the other way from the Mini Evo to our smartphone for sharing on social media or with friends and family. Truly its maker seems to be attempting to cover all bases and user requests with this one. Lens modes: Normal, Vignette, Soft Focus, Blur, Fisheye, Colour Shift, Light Leak, Mirror, Double Exposure, Half-frame Using the camera is pretty much entirely automatic thanks to the Program AE mode. The Instax Mini Evo automatically optimizes the shutter speed (1/4 second to 1/8000 second), flash output, ISO speed (100 to 1600) and other key settings according to the current shooting conditions. From the app you can perform a number of useful functions, including taking remote control of the camera (useful for selfies and group shots). The Mini Evo is an incredibly enjoyable camera to use. It powers up almost instantly, offers a simple point-and-shoot interface and features a range of creative options through its various filters. An instant camera for the 21st century, the Mini Evo allows you to preview your shots before you take them, tweak the exposure, add filters and flash, then print and share your shots to social media. Paired with its companion app, it can even be used to print off your smartphone pictures as well.
