About this deal

It looks like Garmin is about to release an upper arm (bicep) cuff called Garmin Index BPMand it will take your blood pressure readings and store them on your Garmin app. First: garmin isn’t very accurate in their data. Keeping an eye on your blood pressure is a good thing, but not garmins implementation. garmin as for theECG on the venue 2, hopefully this will "officially" come to Europe soon as I am sure many could be interested and they could have a good uptake on this on the EU market... Users have also compared the Index BPM to other brands like Omron and have found it to be close to other devices. If you are looking for any insights or interpretations of the data, Garmin wisely steers clear. The Index BPM manual simply reproduces the basic guidance from the American Heart Association. Identical performance to other blood pressure monitors, aside from Garmin Connect, there are no distinctive functions.

The blood pressure monitor comes in the standard Garmin gray box. Like Garmin’s Index S2 smart scale, the Index BPM is made in China rather than Taiwan, where Garmin manufactures most of its products. Though the battery life is ample, it’s surprising that this device uses disposable batteries.

The team has your best interest at heart, we care as much about your health as you do. HIgh blood pressure Stage I has a systolic BP of between 130 and 139 mm Hg and a diastolic blood pressure of between 80 and 189. 130 – 139/80 -89 I was inclined to think this is an unfounded rumour when I first read the post, only to have Apple Health prompt me on the next morning about: do you want to give GCN mobile permissions to write blood pressure data? Pretty much confirmed, I think 🙂 Of course, the most important thing is whether it can take an accurate BP reading. The medical profession regards oscillatory blood pressure monitors that sit on the upper arm as a reliable form of blood pressure measurement. Some users of the Garmin Index BPM have found the arm cuff a little loose, which can affect the output reading. Serial adjustments may be necessary to get the correct fit and accurate readings.

My BP is a bit high and I wanted to monitor this weekly at home and see changes as a result of lifestyle changes (exercise and intermittent fasting) It is important to do the measurement in the same condition/position/time of day and state of mind (stress!).

A premium smart scale that's fast and accurate, but could benefit from more context in the app

This was a long overdue move from Garmin. Its software may be a fitness and health powerhouse, but with one notable exception. It didn’t allow users to store blood pressure readings. Off topic but this could be a hint of a near future new Garmin Varia vision( or glasses). Activelook 2.0 Your blood pressure is simply a measurement of the pressure of your blood against the walls of blood vessels as it is pumped around your body. The pressure come from the force with which the heart pumps the blood and the resistance it encounters from the circulatory system. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/garmin/garmin-connect-mobile/garmin-connect-mobile-4-61-release/ Reply HOWEVER… I’ve had mixed results with this style of integrated cuff+sensor. The others I’ve tried tend to be less fault tolerant. (say, if you move, or your arm isn’t at EXACTLY the right elevation compared to your heart etc)

Garmin Index™ BPM Smart Blood Pressure Monitor

As we’ve come to expect from Garmin devices, the Index S2 smart scale is high quality and robust. The color display is particularly impressive, and the best of any smart scale we’ve tested to date – bright and crisp, with an unusually high resolution that makes icons and text sharp and easy to read when standing up. At each weigh-in you’ll be able to see your current weight, body composition stats including fat and muscle mass, and a graph of changes to your weight over time. The scale is fast; your weight is displayed on the crisp, bright screen almost immediately. By default you’ll also be shown your body composition stats and the weather, but if you prefer there’s also an option to show your weight only. The Garmin Index BPM syncs automatically with the Garmin Connect mobile app, and sends you smartphone reminders https://www.garmin.com/en-US/newsroom/press-release/wearables-health/see-a-more-complete-picture-of-your-health-with-index-bpm-an-fda-cleared-smart-blood-pressure-monitor-from-garmin/Garmin is probably due to refresh the Index Smart Scale as the S2 model that I have was always in need of some love even though it was only released just over 2 years ago. So it was a bit of a surprise to see that instead, Garmin could be entering Blood Pressure measurements for the first time. Whilst this product is linked to fitness, the biggest number of buyers by far will be in the general wellness space. what could be faulted, why does garmin still use batteries in their index products and not rechargeable like withings? The FDA routinely clears Class II medical devices like the Index BMP if they can show comparable use and performance to an existing cleared product on the market, known as a predicate. It’s likely that Garmin could show that their bicep cuff BP monitor performed in an equivalent manner to other cleared devices. An all-in-one blood pressure monitor Class I devices have the least potential to harm a user and include items like bandages and plasters. Just under half the medical devices on the market are Level I devices and rarely require regulatory evaluation. The Garmin Index BPM smart blood pressure monitor is entering an already saturated market. Its major advantage is the Garmin brand and the fact that Garmin Connect users who are serious about collecting health data can now port BP readings from a Garmin device for an even more comprehensive health profile.
