What about me? The drivers, while the channels are relatively well-matched, exhibit a curious whine at specific higher frequencies, indicating some artifact of the poor construction within the sound – but it’s not audible when listening to music. At least, not usually.

HIFIMAN Sundara Review — Headfonics

and I am convinced to the bone that Sundara are the headphone I been looking for. The sound is clean, very well separated and appears to be just pleasantly flowing out of the ear cups while sundara barely seem to be making an effort in making that sound so good. Although I still find the bass on sundara, to be a shade more for my taste but that doesn’t come in my way of enjoying the music anyhow. Also the handband seems less hostile and seem to hate me little less now. The EQ Score is designed to MAXIMIZE the Score WHILE fitting the Harman target curve with a fixed complexity.

These face masks are not intended to be used in health care environments, including but not limited to, hospitals, nursing homes, urgent care centers, doctors’ offices; Despite both having a similar weight the Sundara is a bit easier to work with and handle. A lot of that has to do with the redesigned headband and pivot system. Hifiman has actually gotten rid of the swivel function of the older HE series headphones so it no longer folds flat.

Thanks to my friend Melissa for tossing her blue coat on my couch, providing me the perfect photo op Sound Despite fairly typical impedance, the headphones don't get as loud as many other models we test. For reference, when I listen to lossless Apple Music audio on an iMac via a McIntosh stereo receiver, they only start to get uncomfortably loud after I max out the volumes of both the app and the receiver. Those same levels with the Grado SR325x are extremely loud, to the extent that they could potentially damage the headphones. You need an amp. If you are on a budget try the FiiO A5, otherwise I recommend a tube amp of around 1W in power output. That was still relatively early in my audiophile journey, and I’ve since gotten a bit harder to impress, a bit less susceptible to “audiophile magic.” But I was left with a pervasive desire to eventually get my hands on the Sundara, and a few months ago, I finally did. I am playing most of the songs from Tidal (Turkey one - cause its cheaper) and everyday I am discovering a new sound in songs that I have been listening since last 10-15 years. I am not an audiophile and probably will not ever become one, but I know my music and enjoy it. These planars enrich the experience of enjoying music. It is a brand new headband system which in my eyes is much simpler in functionality and also a lot sturdier than the old HE series headbands. The headband has what I would describe as a more normal curve and is less extravagant than the older headband. I am in two minds about that because whilst I recognize the 3.5mm TRS plugs are a setup in quality over the 2.5mm mono plugs it does mean aftermarket cables previously used on the likes of the HE1000 are now redundant on the Sundara.

The grain in the Sundara’s treble response (very mild, by the way) isn’t a deal-breaker for me, especially as most of the genres that bring this issue to light are better-suited by other of my headphones for other reasons. You won’t run into these issues with most ambient, or classical, or jazz, or any of the other genres with which the Sundara excels. For these genres, the Sundara treble is sufficiently detailed, airy, and gorgeous. This is what the Sundara will look like on your head if you’re outrageously overdue for a haircut like me. Build What made these headphones really shine is the outstandingseparation andexcellent timbral accuracyof the instruments. Specific location is not an issue with these headphones. What is created is a sort of alively presence, an acousticfeel which is my preference. If you happen to enjoy chamber music—an intimate experience with the solo voice of an instrument—these will be right for you. I put on Narciso Yepes Albéniz & Granados(2017 Deutsche Grammophon CD) pieces and they felt alive and in wonderful sound. By doing away with the numbering sequence Hifiman has been able to craft a specific pitch for the Sundara that breaks the numbering chains of their previous headphones. The only thing we have to go on is the price. Upon unboxing the HiFiMan Sundara, we advise you to look out for the following potential manufacturing issues:for those like me who own the 400i, try to sell them to buy Sundara, or would you get little to choose to sell the 400i? HIFIMAN should need no introduction at this point in 2018. They’ve been around since 2007 and under the leadership of Dr. Fang Bian, have become a powerful force in headphone audio. They’re a name right up there with the likes of Sennheiser if you ask me. They have reached all across the planet with their fantastic sounding headphones and DAPs. If you’re serious about headphone audio, you know the name HIFIMAN . A lover of music, audio gear, and a Computer geek. I have an eclectic taste in music and a particular passion for great sound. HiFiMan Sundara - Review 2023 - PCMag UK

Perhaps it was said to stir up some thought within the HIFIMAN design team and open up the possibility of an improved version of the iconic headphone down the road. PS:- Now I am looking for a case for this one, along with the headset and mic combo i talked about above. I took a peek inside the cups and there is little damping material inside the cup and there’s a minimum amount of tuning inside the cup but the driver itself seems to have some visible tuning tweaks.

Large, Open-Back Enclosures

You can expect them to present a refined listening experience. The audio quality exhibited by these headphones is a beautiful mix of musicality, technical brilliance and high precision. Given how popular this headphone is, If there was a dekoni pad around suitable for he series, it would be interesting to see comparable data with hifiman pali pad vs dekoni on sundara As you have tested both Vali and Sundara, do you think that Sundara would be a nice complement to the Vali ? Or the Vali is superior and the Sundara would not bring anything ? My experience has always been with wireless over-the-ear headphones( Sennheiser PXC 550-II, Sony WH-1000XM3, Bose SoundLink—the Sennheiser’s are for me the clear winner of these threeby the way). I had no need for wired headphones and the amp to drive them. I’ve had wireless headphones exclusively—some Apple AirPods Pro earphones as well because they are just so practical.
