About this deal

One of the things we liked about the E6 in our review was the company's new Pulse Extraction Process technology. This pulses water through the ground coffee, leading to a fuller taste with a rich crema. There are also several options for customising your espresso, including coffee strength and length. Small and compact machine: The Jura A1 weighs approximately 20.3 lbs with a width of 9.4 inches which means it will be able to fit any kitchen counter space. While the filter will save you plenty of hassle, you can easily descale the machine using Jura descaling tablets if you don’t have one. After every 180 preparations or 80 switch-on rinses, you’ll receive a prompt to clean it. Value For Money A bar is a measurement of pressure. When it comes to coffee machines, it’s the amount of pressure needed to push hot water through the compacted grounds to extract coffee — we found we needed at least 15 bars for optimum performance. You’ll see some coffee machines that offer more than 15 bars, but this doesn’t necessarily indicate that it’s a better machine. Crema Additionally, the model has a 1.1 litre water tank, zero-energy switch and a one-touch operation. It's also twice as fast as the G3 grinder, can be programmed to three different coffee specialities, and can use either pre-ground or fresh coffee beans.

Pod machines are easy to use and deliver consistent results, but they won’t give you the same level of control over your coffee as other models. So, if you’re looking for a no-fuss cuppa and favour an espresso, this is the option for you. Most models also include an automatic milk frother, if you’re after milk-based drinks. Ultimately, if it stops you from grabbing a coffee on your way to work because you have an awesome machine at home, it will eventually save you money. A stressful morning no longer involves expensive coffee drinking sprees, just pushing a couple of buttons. Thanks to the Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System and the PEP, the Jura A1 allows the ground coffee to develop its full flavours and aromas, resulting in a high-quality espresso shot with a delightful layer of crema on top.

Check out Jura A1!

The bean hopper (container) on the A1 is not the largest and can hold 125 grams of coffee beans, which is enough for a 2 person household. The downside of the Jura A1 is that the water tank and drip tray are quite small so will need filled/emptied and cleaned more frequently thanother Jura coffee makers. This is on the basis of you making the same number of coffees as with a larger machine too.

Use Jura decalcifying and descaling tablets to descale the water container. Descaling can eliminate mildew, limescale deposits and mineral buildup that can produce bad tasting coffee. You want a more budget-friendly super-automatic espresso machine– When it comes to Jura models, the A1 is the cheapest option. However, if you were thinking of investing a smaller budget, we recommend looking into the Gaggia Brera. Designed and built in Italy, this versatile super-automatic espresso machine also includes a milk frother, grinder, and excellent brewing system at a more budget-friendly price. Kilbride, D. (2017, June 8). How Does Pressure Affect Espresso Quality?. Retrieved from https://perfectdailygrind.com/2017/06/how-does-pressure-affect-espresso-quality/ The stainless steel G3 aroma grinder is built to last, probably about a decade of normal use. Plus, it is much quieter than most while coffee bean grinding. Thanks to the slower grind speed, heat build-up is reduced which preserves more of the delicious oils from your coffee beans. Yes the Jura A1 comes with an adjustable height nozzle, meaning you can configure it to fit your cup size. The maximum height is 144mm, much more than a standard mug (95mm) How long should it last? Most Jura customers have no problems with their machines well beyond the 2-year mark with some getting 10+ years out of their investment. This ceramic conical burr grinder can be manually adjusted, to allow you to dictate the coarseness of your beans. But this is pretty standard and nothing to write home about. The Jura A1 has just three drinks options, and you choose them via each of the three buttons on top of the machine. So, you can brew a ristretto, an espresso, or a regular coffee. The ristretto is a shorter version of traditional espresso. It’s more intense than espresso but slightly sweeter. Meanwhile, the regular coffee option brews a beverage akin to Americano (espresso with hot water).

Espresso machines tend to look like miniature versions of the ones you see in coffee shops. Much like pod machines, they draw flavour from coffee grounds, but this time around these are loose and will need both measuring and tamping before they’re ready for extraction. This may take a little longer than other machines, but transforms the coffee-making process into more of an experience, and the delicious results make the extra effort worthwhile. Meanwhile, single-serve capsule machines like Nespresso are cheaper, but the coffee flavor isn’t as good as espresso brewed using fresh beans. Also, over time, a Nespresso machine would likely cost you more because of the extra expense of the pods over fresh beans. If you want to change the setting, simply go through the steps above again, stopping the beverage’s flow on the required amount. Brew Performance After all you are going to be giving your coffee machine a prime position on your kitchen countertop and you will have to look at it everyday. If your main concern is the budget, no doubt you should choose a Nespresso coffee maker, which will be only a couple hundred dollars. But you should keep in mind that using pods will be a serious expense every month, especially if you have a large family with more coffee drinkers. Using the Jura A1 could barely be simpler. First, turn the machine on using the power button. Then, pour your coffee beans into the bean hopper and close the lid. Next, place your cup under the spout, then choose your desired strength and cup size. The machine will then grind the beans and brew the coffee. At the rear of the machine is the 36.8oz capacity water tank. The tank also houses a water filter – standard in Jura machines. Clean the steam wand after every use. This tool has a lot of holes and grooves that milk can easily sit in. To prevent this, purge the steam wand and wipe it down with a damp cloth after each use. Then, as you’re giving your machine a once over at the end of the day, give the steam wand a deeper clean to get rid of any milk that may have been missed.
