Neutrogena has three physical sunscreens, out of which, this variant is the one that is meant for facial skin, the other two are body sunscreens. This sunscreen has a rating of 1 on EWG which means it is relatively very safe. The sunscreen is 100% natural origin containing 25% Zinc Oxide to provide broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Eco-certified active Zinc Oxide provides protection against the sun. The sunscreen does not have any chemical fillers which might irritate skin. Also, works well to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and give skin a plump look (of course that is only temporary, but still, it'snice). There are also scar treatment gels out there using dimethicone as their base ingredient. It helps to soften scars and increase their elasticity.Glycerin: A moisturizing ingredient that helps hydrate the skin and counteract any potential drying effects of sun exposure. Traditionally, UV-filters are categorized as either chemical or physical. The big difference is supposed to be that chemical agents absorb UV-light while physical agents reflect it like a bunch of mini umbrellas on top of theskin. While this categorization is easy and logicalit turns out it's not true. A recent, 2016 study shows that inorganic sunscreens work mostly by absorption, just like chemical filters, and only a little bit by reflection (they do reflect the light in the visible spectrum, but mostly absorb in the UV spectrum). The product name clearly tells us that this is purely a zinc oxide-based sunscreen. Looking at the ingredient list, just like Sunscros, this has a silicone base as well. The sunscreen has a gel-cream texture that applies easily and gives a velvety soft finish. But above all, the surprise factor of this sunscreen, it has a negligible white cast. How?! They claim to have a patented Index Match Technology that ensures transparency and no whitening effect on the skin. It also contains Zinclear IM which is an EcoCert-approved cosmetic ingredient. The sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection for up to 4 hours (my calculation), so the sunscreen kind of saves you from re-application headache after 2 hours. Reapplying twice a day works well given that I do not go out in the sun. If you have field engagement, you must reapply it after every 4 hours or if the sunscreen gets rubbed or wiped off due to sweat. A physical/inorganic sunscreen with pretty broad spectrum (UVB and UVA II, less good at UVA I) protection and good stability. Might leave some whitish tint on the skin, though.
