In 2014, Limmy had a regular segment in the second series of the Charlie Brooker news satire show Weekly Wipe. He is also known for his live webcam chats, in which he interacts with fans and makes music. [19] In 2015, Limmy wrote his first book titled Daft Wee Stories, published by Random House. [20] [21] To promote the book, Limmy embarked on a UK book reading tour. Three of the stories were also published in The Scotsman newspaper. [22] [23] Brian Limond is a comedian, actor, and writer, best known for Limmy’s Show (2009), The IT Crowd (2006), and Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe (2013). Because, as well as being a compelling first-person account of living with mental health issues, Surprisingly Down to Earth is, as the title promises, very funny. Uproariously, even. Limmy’s chatty, seemingly off-the-cuff patter marks him out as a natural storyteller, and the humour is easy and unforced, allowed to grow organically out of his skewed outlook on the world. And it’s genuinely interesting to see how Limmy’s varied talents, obsessions, hang-ups and life experiences coalesced into a successful career achieved on his own terms. World's Smallest Cat: Here are 10 breeds of adorable tiny cats that will always look like cute kittens - including the teeny tiny Devon Rex cat breed Having always spoken candidly about your own mental health, you predated that wave of public figures coming out and discussing the topic so openly. Brian Limond: How I got there and where to next". The Drum (in Inglis). 20 Januar 2010 . Retrieved 15 Juin 2020. Audiobook's worth it - the prose is very plain and his accent's strong but clear. Fans only, but you should be a fan. I know several people with the same mix of terrible impulses and good intentions, charisma and anti-social solitude: folk whose adolescence lasted twenty years. They're the funniest people I know, by far. I don't know how class comes into it, but they're all working-class. Maybe middle-class people as strange as them direct it inward, rather than outward as comedy or violence. (They're also all Scots but that's a selection effect, I hope.) It’s brilliant, he’s brilliant, I enjoyed every bit of this book (Audiobook that is) Definitely worth getting the audio book over the book itself. It’s so frank and honest, I was already a huge Limmy fan but this has made me a super fan! Very refreshing to hear his experiences of sexuality, mental illness and addiction, without any of the shame or male bravado that can make it hard to open up. I would recommend this book to everyone but I think a lot could be learned for teenagers and teenage boys. So candid. I don’t think I ever read/listened to an autobiography like this one, and the honest nature of the writing makes it so worth the time, whether you know his work or not, this gets to the deep inner workings of a person. I loved all the coming of age stories, the humour of it, but also the fact that he is not really clowning his younger self or the personal significance of those moments.Surprisingly Down to Earth, and Very Funny” is a non-fiction book that was released in 2019. He’s Limmy. Maybe you know him from “Limmy’s Show”, or you may not know him at all. Don’t worry if you don’t know him.
