About this deal

The reason the AF is mentioned so much is because that is the weakness. That's pretty much it. It's an absolute gem of a lens otherwise. If they came out with a 20mm f1.7 III with AF like the 15mm f1.7 then I think this would be a lens with zero "cons" on the review summary. Or if the 17mm f1.8 had optics like the 20mm f1.7, that would work too! the top 10-15 photos that i like, that i've taken in the last 12-18 months, were using my dslr/mirrorless What I wasn’t prepared for was that the image quality of this little E-P2 and 20 1.7 would surpass a Nikon D3s with a Nikon 50 1.8 (more on this later). I guess that right there is proof that a lens can make all of the difference in the world. When the lens arrived from B&H I opened the box and was pleased to see a lens pouch was included. Not that I ever use them really, but it’s a nice touch. But it is not as easy as that for us camera addicted crazies. See, I do appreciate the extra quality my M9 gives me not only in its feel, build, and lenses but in the way I shoot with it. It’s a rangefinder and I love the viewfinder, the manual focus, and the feel of those lenses in my hand. The image quality is stellar. To me, it is worth that extra money to have something I can really enjoy shooting. The M9 is a camera I could be buried with. That does not take away the capabilities of this E-P2/20 1.7 kit though. For the money it is simply superb! The 'cats-eye' bokeh is mostly gone by F4. However, bokeh discs becomes less rounded. Specifically, the polygonal shape of the lens's 7-blade aperture becomes more pronounced in the out-of-focus highlights, when you stop down past F2.8, and this can have a slightly negative impact on bokeh in general.

Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 II ASPH vs Panasonic Lumix G 20mm F1.7 ASPH vs Panasonic Leica Summilux DG 25mm F1.4Find more great lenses in our guide to the best Micro Four Thirds lenses, or have a look at the best Panasonic cameras, and the best Olympus cameras. lenses were fairly popular in the "good old days". I think the quality of these cheap M43 25mm is the real problem. They are not special at all 😉. They are not WR. They are not that fast either for a prime, and need stopping down anyway for decent images. Context is key, and Roger provided a good deal of it so taking his numbers out of context to reach a singular conclusion kinda does them a disservice.

The out-of-focus regions in this F1.7 shot show some purple fringing in front of the subject, aka longitudinal CA (LoCA) I have the P20, version I, no problems with that on the E-M10 but I find it really too wide. I think I'll replace it with a 25. I went with the 20mm for its size when used with GF7/GM1/ GM5. It certainly isn’t a fast focusing lens but for my usage speed doesn’t matter. I’ll be keeping it, unlike the 25mm f1.7. I handled the 15mm, it is much deeper but offers more by way of direct control rings. The 15mm is much more expensive.

Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 II Asph: Verdict

I have the mark I version of the Panaleica 25mm and while on the charts it may be inferior to the Olympus I absolutely love the smooth rendering and the rich tonality. Wide open is just magic.

Main reason being was weight, it was just to heavy sometimes lugging it all about even with just the body & one lens.

OPPO Reno8 Pro 5G review

Greetings! I have a question about some older gear. I'm very happy with my current lenses, but now am looking to go for a smaller body and lens combo. To that end, I'm looking for a pancake, or pancake-like. The two major contenders are the 15mm f/1.7 and 20mm f/1.7. When [HDMI Recording Control] and/or [SDI Recording Control] is/are ON, Rec button is available even if the SD Card is not inserted. The connection method, either HDMI or SDI, is also displayed. So if you use these values, the full frame at f/3.4 iso800 takes the same exact image as f/1.7 iso200 on m43 for this same field of view. If both sensors have the same number of pixels, the amount of light reaching each pixel for the same image is exactly the same. Close-focus is possible with the lens, with a 20cm minimum focus distance. 1/640s, f/1.7, ISO200, 20mm. Photo: Joshua Waller
