The result was a Solidarity High-Impact Sports Bra that fits perfectly for my slightly unusual bra size of 30E. A new sports bra brand, Maaree, has launched with two sports bras, as well as a range of other apparel. I asked Ellen to test the Maaree Solidarity Sports Bra. During my sports bra testing days, we we're really focused on downwards motion. Our boobs move in a figure eight motion, and brands would always try to reduce the largest movement, which was downward. Road cycling isn’t, of course, a high impact activity. However, according to experts at the Research Group in Breast Health, based at the University of Portsmouth, riders wearing a D+ cup are best served by an encapsulation or combination style sports bra, as opposed to a less supportive compression style often used by cycling specific brands. This bra starts from a 30C so it is designed for those with more breast tissue. There is a Medium Impact version for those who don’t want something quite so heavy duty.While braless or wearing a non-padded bra, measure around the underband, directly under your bust. The measuring tape should be level, measure in inches and be very snug. If this number is even, this is your underband size. If the number is odd, add one inch to this number, and then this is your underband size. (So if you measured 32 inches, you underband size is 32. If you measured 33 inches, your underband size is 34.) Please note that the tape measure isn't always 100% accurate when it comes to measuring the bust. Also, I suffered no chafing under the breasts because the support band is wide and well-fitted and doesn’t rub while you move. Any improvement in the world of sports bras – sports gear for bigger women in general, actually – is very welcome as far as I’m concerned. I have long struggled to find supportive kit that fits well.
