About this deal

You can opt to programme your own settings but the intelligent operation is good enough that you shouldn’t have to. Power requirements change, too. The first example draws 179W, while the second one requires 211W. At the maximum draw, the MeacoDry Arete One uses 235W of power. That isn’t unusual for a compressor-based dehumidifier, working out at around 3.3p per hour. I had the MeacoDry Arete One running whilst I worked and watched TV and it didn’t bother me at all. The official stats say it runs at just 35dB, and it certainly felt very quiet in practice.

Basically, if you have a larger house with large rooms and a damp problem, then this is the kind of dehumidifier you should look at if you want to deal with the issue. But is it up there the best? If you press the Smart Humidity mode button repeatedly, you can cycle between the available humidity targets, ranging from 40% to 70%rh, with a continuous option if you just want to keep dehumidifying, no matter what. This charge will also be incurred in the event that a delivery fails due to, but not limited to, any of the following reasons: I think there’s a typo in the section about running costs, where it quotes “… and around 56p/hour if you run it for 8 hours a day”. Shouldn’t that be 56p/day? The only downsides for me are that there is no timer, and this dehumidifier doesn't have any Wi-Fi compatibility, which is a bit of a shame because I’d love to have been able to operate it remotely via an App. But, considering this dehumidifier does such a stellar job, these few points are very easy to overlook.

For emptying, the tank simply pulls out the front of the machine so you can pour away the water. Just be careful, though – the tank is quite heavy when full. Arete is the Greek Goddess of Excellence in all things and, with this range of dehumidifiers, this is exactly what we have achieved. The attention to detail has been exhaustive as we perfected every interaction between the user and the dehumidifier. So there’s no absolute cost to running a dehumidifier. But here’s something that might help. It’s a question from a happy customer! ‘What is the cost of running a dehumidifier?’ It does a superb job of getting rid of excess moisture in the air, the automatic Smart Humidity Mode works perfectly, and in my tests, it reduced the moisture in my damp-prone rooms to the ideal humidity level in a very short period of time. This means that any dehumidifier will need to be emptied regularly. The Arete One has a large, 4.8 litre water tank that’s designed to be easy to empty without spilling water all over the place.

Dehumidifiers are not as common an appliance in the UK as you might imagine, especially given our damp, maritime climate. As the name suggests, a dehumidifier helps to remove moisture from the air in your home. You’ll need to supply your own hose (and you’ll need a drain). A standard garden hose should fit it. Meaco used to ship its dehumidifiers with plastic hoses but stopped when customers told them they were rarely used and generally discarded. I've been really pleasantly surprised by how quiet the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier is.Especially considering noisy operation is usually one of the biggest downsides of running a compressor dehumidifier. The Arete One also offers Smart Laundry Mode for drying clothes; and Night Mode which switches the fan to low speed and disables both the lights and the audible 'tank full' alert beeps. Additionally, you can switch off the dehumidifier entirely and simply run it as a stand-alone air purifier, or you can choose to run the unit in continuous dehumidifying mode if you wish. To make things easier, Arete comes with a hose adapter to allow you to use a standard garden hose for continuous drainage if you need it.Our deliveries are made between the hours of 8am and 6pm, 6 days a week. All goods must be signed for on delivery by an adult aged 18 years required upon delivery. The MeacoDry Arete One is a compressor dehumidifier –you can read about the difference between desiccant vs compressor dehumidifiers in our handy guide. While traditionally compressor dehumidifiers have not been so efficient at low temperatures, the Arete One has been designed to operate from a balmy 35ºC all the way down to a chilly 5ºC. A simple easy to use control panel – we made the most often used buttons larger and the least used buttons smaller For comparison, Pro Breeze's most energy-effecient comprssor dehumidifier, the Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier, uses 220W to the MeacoDry 12L Arete One's 151W, and costs roughly 6p per hour to run.The Pro Breeze Low Energy dehumidifier also has several other issues that the MeacoDry 12L Arete One does not, as you'll find out in my Pro Breeze 12L Low Energy dehumidifier review.

We have not included a free hose in our dehumidifiers for a few years now because more than 90% of users told us that they do not use them, so they just end up in landfill. Our aim is to reduce plastic waste, so we changed the way we do things. The end result is our quietest, most energy efficient dehumidifier range yet, with a host of special features to make living with Arete a pleasure. watts is in fan only mode, when it is in standby it will be less than 1 watt. It is impossible to say how many hours it would run in your conservatory because we don’t know how well sealed the space is, whether you dry washing in there each day, whether it joins on to a kitchen that does not have an extractor fan, how many people are in the room each day and how many hours they are in there for. Too many variables I am afraid, but with it set to 60%rh on low fan speed you will be keeping your costs to a minimum whilst combatting the damp. As important as it is to have moisture in the air, too much can cause problems, from mould growth to making it feel hotter as a result of sweat being unable to evaporate. Dehumidifiers are the solution, but many are expensive to run and fiddly to use. The MeacoDry Arete One aims to fix that. It’s relatively cheap to run and can aim for an ideal humidity level automatically, so you’ll never over-dry your air. Design and FeaturesThis dehumidifier is intuitive to use, though I mostly use laundry mode, which is a single button press. Laundry dries much faster and condensation is non-existent only after running the dehumidifier on this mode (our bathroom and “laundry” room are right next to each other so it can get very humid). The HEPA filtration system is harder to comment on as I do not have anything to test how much particulate escapes the dehumidifier before filtration but it is a nice feature. The rooms in our house that experience most condensation sits at about 12-15 degrees. I hadn’t realised until reading this post that it seems that the dehumidifier seems to work better if warmer? (Meaco arrete 25L) That said, this dehumidifier can also act as an air purifier, so there is an optional HEPA filter that you can fit into the dehumidifier. I’d recommend using it as this filter can help to clean the air whilst the dehumidifier is working.Bonus! Note that the 'L' here refers to how many litres of water the machines can remove from the air each day, at 30C and 80% relative humidity. It does not refer to the size of the tank, which is 4.8 litres on both models. Also note that you won't actually be removing that amount of moisture per day, unless you like your home to have the hot and moist ambience of a tropical rainforest. MeacoDry Arete One review: design and features What do you do if you already produce some of the quietest and most energy-efficiency dehumidifiers on the market? With Meaco’s new MeacoDry Arete One, the answer is to go even lower with power consumption and even quieter – and with some higher capacity options, too.
