Christiana Gregoriou (29 February 2012). Constructing Crime: Discourse and Cultural Representations of Crime and 'Deviance' . Palgrave Macmillan. pp.194–. ISBN 978-0-230-39208-3. This generator inspired me to donate the first time and I use it so often I'll continue to donate. The combination of calming waves and water with the vocals relaxes me more than anything else. When I'm stressed or tired I know that the mermaids will always assist me.

Visit BookSleuth With her dying breath (there’s a running folklore theme here) the mermaid cursed the townsfolk both now and in generations to come that they might suffer all manner of plight, from plague to war. Love this generator! I'm playing it alongside Folk Tradition and it sounds like mermaids singing off the shores of Scotland. Very foreboding and moody, so far my favorite pairing. Mermaids are stories, and stories are powerful. They shape the way we think and feel. Mermaids may only live in stories, but stories are real.Abouddahab, Rédouane, ed. (18 January 2011). " "The Imp of the Perverse": Female Crime Writers in Contemporary Scottish Fiction". Fiction, Crime, and the Feminine. Cambridge Scholars Publishing. p.82. ISBN 1443828289. The ocean is inextricably linked to the lives of the island residents, and Clift's language personifies it as another character: “The sea doesn’t care. If she can’t kill them, or doesn’t choose to, she will probably bend one of their legs just a little to show who has command of the situation.” What is undeniable is the resilience of the people; they have very little, yet from such meagre resources every last drop is squeezed. And they suffer: abundance of spirit goes hand in hand with the depths of despair. Ireland also has its fair share of mermaid mythology. According to folklore, if you walk the Bay cliffs of Bantry in County Cork you may espy a number of mermaids splashing in the waves.

Speed Swimming - A Siren's powerful and streamlined tail and huge flukes can propel them through the roughest waters with incredible speed, grace and agility with minimal restrictions to water resistance. Like a dolphin, their fins can propel them high out of the water. This is unbelievable. Hats off to the people who made this - I absolutely love it. Completely magical, we could all use some of this in our lives! This is a fantastically eerie yet relaxing soundscape, especially with the Himalayan Voices and Evil Charm in the mix. It feels like the perfect ambient audio for exploring a creepy, watery cave in a video game. Thank you, Dr. Pigeon, for your time and talents. The sounds of this Magic Generator coalesce to form one amazing and soothing atmosphere. I'm a digital artist, and this really helps me focus and create art. The sounds of the singing, the whispering, the soft and mystical noises... It's all so amazing. Every time I listen to this I hope to hear the sirens. Sometimes I don't hear their voices, and sometimes I do. It's magical. I love the way it makes you feel submerged deep down in a ocean of mystery. Rather comfortable it is :)

I was listening on default for a while, and then hit the keyboard shortcut for brown noise by mistake. It was like I was finally dragged underwater after fighting for a long time and I am unconscious, but at peace. Her recollection at times reads like a lucid dream; she recalls - "in my memory everything is elemental, furious, beyond the edge of normality and control," which perfectly captures the essence of the book, leaving this review almost superfluous! In the scenes she witnesses - the carnivals, the celebrations, the mournful rituals of death and passing - her near non-sequitur commentary enlivens our own experience, suggesting more by what is not said, than by what is. Of a lively celebration, she observes:"Sevasti has a wild stare in her eyes as she studies two bottles - one of retzina (a Greek wine) and one of paraffin. It is clear she has mixed them up. No one pays any attention to that either." I usually steer clear of "eerie" generators, as I'm really sensitive to becoming worked up or uncomfortable, but when I saw a new Magic Generator had been released I HAD to try it. Though certainly eerie, this isn't scary, but gives you a feeling more like dissonance in music does. My imagination started up as soon as I heard this - I felt just like Odysseus lashed to his mast must have felt. This is without doubt the best book by McDermid that I have read: exciting, well-written, fast-moving and well-deserving of the [Gold Dagger] award… you’ll not find a better book this year. The first mermaid was an ancient Syrian goddess. In 1000 b.c., Atargatis (pictured above) dove into a lake with the desire to become a fish after accidentally killing a human shepherd she loved. Instead, she retained her human form from the waist up but her bottom half transformed into the tail of a fish.
