DisplayPort and mini-DisplayPort provide power but this is less than 10 watts and is intended to provide power to attached cables or adapters, not to connected devices. The pins that provide power are not supposed to be wired to the other end of the cable. Anyone successful with using a USB-C to DP bidirectional cable to the G-story 15" Portable Type-C monitor? When you connect your Surface to a TV or monitor, your Surface tries to set the best resolution based on the connector and the resolution of your TV or monitor. If you're using a USB-C or Thunderbolt adapter to connect a display, the adapter must be compliant with DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4. If you’re using a Mini DisplayPort adapter, make sure the adapter is plugged in correctly. The adapter will only work when the connector is plugged in with the flat side of the connector aligned with the flat side of the Mini DisplayPort.HDMI is not capable of delivering the bandwidth required to drive the Pro - you cannot drive a Pro via an HDMI port using any combination of adapter, cable, ect... I would like to use the Dell 24 UltraSharp Monitor: U2415 to charge my laptop which has a USB 3.1 type C port.

salalsalman - That photo doesn't bode well unfortunately. The only real way to get confirmation about this is to get the exact make/model of your laptop and ask the manufacturer for a definitive answer. The Displayport in that diagram may be hardwired to the laptop's screen if you don't have a miniDisplay port on there somewhere.
Note: Common video input settings include VGA, DVI, AUX, DisplayPort, HDMI, Line in, Input, and Source. And I also bought the following cable in the hopes that I could use it to connect to the monitor from my PC (using gtx 1080 -- it doesn't have type-c -- only display port and hdmi).
