We’ve answered the most common questions we’ve received from real customers and stated these below in their own words - hopefully this will be helpful in you troubleshooting the most common concerns about clothes moth pheromone traps. Do moths eat clothes? If you think moths are already in your wardrobe, giving clothes a steam with a clothes steamer is a great way to make sure any eggs or larvae are killed. Also note that only fully mature adult males will be caught by clothes moth pheromone traps - juvenile males and all females are still potentially flying and it takes time for the breeding cycle to be broken. Clothes moths will only typically live for a month so you may see some activity for 4-5 weeks after putting the moths pheromone traps in place. Damage to Clothing - Moth Traps only part of the solution Yes, moth traps really do work but how and why will take some explaining. Read on to find out all about moth traps and for answers to some of the questions we are commonly asked about moth traps. WHAT ARE MOTH TRAPS? When it comes to the washing machine setting if you're clothes can take it clean them on a high heat above 50 degrees. 50 degrees is the temperature that will start to kill moth eggs or larvae. Alternatively, if you need to wash at a lower temperature you have the option to either steam your clothes to kill any eggs or larvae.

Extremely high or freezing conditions are temperatures that kill clothes moths. We always recommend that either dry cleaning or deep freezing infested clothes and / or home textiles for 72 hours should kill any eggs and larvae present. While extremely high temperatures can kill clothes moths and it may be a process that can be conducted through heat treatments by a professional pest controller, it is not something that you can achieve at home on your own. Clothes in the freezer to kill moths - how long? If you find you are catching moths in this pheromone moth trap, further control methods may be required to eliminate your moth problem

Insect traps are designed with the behaviour of the target insect in mind. Fly traps are designed with attractants that flies like and to be placed where flies are likely to be flying or landing. Clothes moths do not behave the same way as flies. They are shy creatures that seek dark undisturbed places where they can eat natural fibres and lay their eggs in peace. I was amazed . . . while still assembling the first trap . . . I had moths appearing and trying to get to the trap still in my hand. This cedar wood product can be used to ward off moths in various storage spaces thanks to its ring shape, making it ideal for use on hangers, dressers, and even in footwear. Your gym bag may be safe from moths, but you can also use these cedar rings to eliminate any lingering odor before you work up a sweat. Because cedar wood naturally repels insects and spiders, it may be helpful in repelling moths, ants, and termites. Cedar wood is also absorbent, which can be placed in bags or storage containers to prevent mildew or moisture from becoming a problem over time. Not exactly. Adult moths do not have mouths, so those irritating holes are caused by moth eggs and caterpillar-like larvae chewing through your clothes. So while seeing moths flying around in your home is a problem, the main issue is their larvae, which are doing all the damage.

Dust is largely made up of shed human skin cells and hair - and another source of keratin. Cleanliness in your closets is critical. Compared to significant economic loss to you with your most expensive clothing items and carpets at risk, we feel they are a relatively sensible choice for the peace of mind for what have been proven to be the absolute best clothes moth traps on the market. Our Traps attract the active adult male moths and will help break the breeding cycle. It might be that the moths you are seeing are females and the males have not yet hatched. The Traps are active for 12 weeks after opening. My two favourite materials to upcycle are old jeans and road maps. Last year I made fun faux moths out of denim scraps; this time, I made some fun paper moth and butterfly art using old road maps.
