Games come to life through easy-to-use motion controls and HD rumble—advanced vibration features built into each Joy‑Con. Depending on the game, you might use a single Joy‑Con in each hand—or even give the second one to a friend. Prior to troubleshooting a controller, we strongly recommend that you verify that the button mapping settings have not been changed. While on the HOME Menu or on the Controllers menu, the Joy-Con controllers are not registered as being attached to the console.

Reset each Joy-Con by pressing the SYNC Button once. Then press any other button on the controller to power it on again. Please note: this time is an estimate. Actual time may vary depending on individual usage patterns. If the Joy-Con is still not recognised by the console, try to detach and reattach it to the console a couple times.If another Joy-Con is not recognised by the console, or if another Joy-Con is unavailable, the Nintendo Switch console and the problematic Joy-Con will need to be repaired. After attaching the Joy-Con controllers to the Nintendo Switch console, the console does not detect that they have been attached.

Please note: the internal battery cannot be removed. If the battery needs to be replaced, it can be replaced for a fee via Nintendo Customer Support. The battery life will depend on the games you play. For instance, the battery will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
