Ham, K., 1993. Cain's Wife: It Really Does Matter!. [Online] Available at: https://www.icr.org/article/cains-wife-it-really-does-matter The Book of Nod is the mythical collection of stories that recount the first night of the Vampires upon Earth as well as the establishment of the rules that most vampires abide by. It is filled with parables and commentary from the author, who so happens to be a vampire in the Masquerade universe.

I thought I would love this book, as it has an absolutely incredible premise. A new day dawns in Vancouver, Canada, and it soon becomes apparent that almost no one in the world has slept. Only a handful of people have managed to sleep, and every one of them has had the same strange dream involving an odd golden light. Paul, our writer protagonist, is one of these 'Sleepers', and he is forced to watch as his girlfriend Tanya and almost everyone else around him begin to rapidly deteriorate and lose their minds. Frothingham, Richard (1845). The History of Charlestown, Massachusetts. Boston: C.C. Little and J. Brown. pp. 111–112 . Retrieved 30 October 2018. Having said all that, the author raises some interesting questions about the human nature, its relationship with catastrophe, leadership, manipulation and chaos. Perhaps i'm just not intelligent enough to get the idea. Nod is a piece of speculative fiction about what would happen if nearly everyone in the world stopped sleeping. Focusing on Paul, a writer who wakes up to discover that he is one of the few who has slept. Those still having the ability to sleep, find themselves dreaming the same dream about a golden light. Within the fiction of Vampire: The Masquerade, The Book of Nod was allegedly the inspiration that led the Byzantine priest Procopius to write the Book of the Shining Blood, the main scripture of the Cainite Heresy. There is so much going on in this book that is NEVER explained. Why couldn't some people sleep and some could sleep? What caused this to happen? Why were the people who could sleep having these strange almost religious visions? What were they for? Why did the children who lived in the park all lose the ability--or desire?--to speak? If the MC is such a recluse (and an asshole), how did he get a girlfriend in the first place? Revelations of the Dark Mother depicted the story of the first vampires from the point of view of Lilith, Adam's first wife. Land of Nod is the name of a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located at the far end of a two-mile-long (3.2 km) road, which joins the A614 road at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor ( 53°49′07″N 0°43′17″W / 53.8185°N 0.7215°W / 53.8185; -0.7215 ( Land of Nod, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor)). Very highly recommended. King of Nod by Scott Fad is one of those deftly written and epic novels from which award-winning miniseries and lucrative Hollywood films are made.” Scott Fad has just proven himself a master at weaving all the elements together to capture a culture in a great work of fiction. King of Nod reads like a magical tale of mystery and history, hatred and love. When you put the book down you will be anxious to return to it. The magic of the island and the ghosts of Joker and Bathsheba Tribbit will have you losing sleep for many, many nights.” Titus Flavius Josephus, The Antiquities of the Jews, Book I (on Wikisource), Chapter II; quoted in Delaney (1996), p. 56.A Greek version of Nod written as Ναίν appearing in the Onomastica Vaticana possibly derives from the plural נחים‎, which relates to resting and sleeping. This derivation, coincidentally or not, connects with the English pun on "nod". [5] Interpretation [ edit ]

Edit: RIP Adrian Barnes. I learned today that the author died early this year, succumbing to the brain cancer he was diagnosed with around the time the book was released. After, Sin came into the World and changed everything, (I even think Climate Change began in that moment in Eden), what was it that People no longer had access too? Nod explores the slow disintegration of humanity through sleep deprivation. Reality is distorted as the conceptual fiction of the world of Nod turns fact in the eyes of the Awakened. A harsh insomnia overthrows the daily grind, replacing it with a hazed infused horror fun-house that strips the characters down to their basic need to just survive. Our narrator is Paul, an etymologist working on a book about words that have been lost. He lives in a small Vancouver apartment with his girlfriend Tanya, a successful PR who is as outgoing as Paul is reclusive. Paul’s life seems cosy, if a little controlled, when the world-changing event takes place. Nod is a book for dreamers who have become scared to dream, making it a delightful bit of horror." The Story of Cain and Abel

Well I've continued the year with another really engrossing and enjoyable read. NOD is about what happens to the world, when for some unknown reason the vast majority of the worlds population can now, suddenly, no longer sleep. What ensues is the world free falling into madness, mayhem and horror.
