About this deal

I decided to read this book after LOVING her new one which I received as an ARC from the publisher. It’s called “Same Time Next Summer” and has an expected publication date of June 6, 2023.

I also really adored the kids and thought they were a great addition to the story. The one thing that gave me slight pause was that I didn't think Nora protected the kids enough from Leo--I would have said "Hey, if you break my heart, fine, but if you mess with my kids' hearts you're dead." Her actions in those moments were what made this not quite a 5-star read. I must've read an entirely different book than everybody else. I thought I would love this one. I wanted to love it. That's all I'm willing to say about this sweet but completely far-fetched story. This book served as a wonderful escape from the real world so the fact that it's really unbelievable did not hinder my enjoyment and most of my enjoyment stemmed from these wonderful characters. I loved Nora and her two children Arthur and Bernadette and Leo Vance isn't too shabby either with his smoldering good looks! The banter was super cute between Nora and Leo and I appreciated that the bedroom scenes were PG rated. I also imagine that this is EXACLTY what would happen if Leonardo DiCaprio came and stayed with me and don't you dare tell me otherwise! 😉 My Year in Nonfiction 2023 #NonficNov #NonfictionNovember #NonfictionBookParty #bookblogger #blogger Annabel Monaghan’s first foray into women’s fiction is the book every one of us needs right now. This delightful, marvelously meta story will charm even the most cynical of readers. With her trademark wit and snappy dialogue, Monaghan has crafted charismatic characters that readers will want to befriend in real life. Nora Goes Off Script is that perfect combination of a wildly clever premise, a captivating cast, and enough heart to make all of us fall in love.” —Lynda Cohen Loigman, author of The Two Family House and The Wartime SistersThe storytelling, it’s plot, narrative, humor, and developing swooning romantic development between Nora Hamilton and Leo Vance is supreme summertime make believe guy-loves-girl fairytale entertainment. Hillary Huber did an excellent job with all the characters. A nice summer treat that gave me some happy vibes! All I needed to add was some homemade strawberry shortcake topped with fresh berries and a wallop of cream. Yum! Thank you so much, Susan. I sure hope your library hold comes in soon! This is such a great book and I hope you love it! Would love to chat with you after you read it! When filming is complete, Leo asks to stay on for a bit and reflect on his life while experiencing normal simple family things with Nora and her children. Nora hesitates but could use the rent money.

I didn’t find it had much depth and that might be due to the fact that it isn’t a very long book with lots of different things happening. So a lot of situations felt rushed. This perfectly-scripted love story left me feeling the way all the best romances do: filled with hope and the feeling that true love always wins. Nora Goes Off Script will be a reread, for sure.”—Jill Santopolo, New York Times bestselling author of The Light We Lost

Diaries & Calendars

Leo, who is handsome, rich, and famous is staying in his trailer next to her home since the filming is done at her house. How awesome is that! A little sappy, very charming, with a too good to be true "sexiest man alive" (yes, please). It all added up to an uplifting, but unrealistic read! Leo seemed to be falling in love with Nora’s highly structured life more than anything unique to Nora. He rhapsodizes about her schedule, and eagerly looks forward to running all of her errands with her, like an eager puppy. All this made it hard to feel emotionally invested in their romance. Leo loves Nora’s regimented and structured daily routine; Nora loves being Leo Vance’s’ girlfriend. Why exactly does Nora love Leo, besides his ability to listen and dispatch pizza long distances? Not sure. Why exactly does Leo love Nora? We don’t really know, and she doesn’t either, which makes the book hum with her constant low level anxiety that he’ll leave her, just like her ex. We get to learn Nora’s inner thoughts which is fun. Nora is a normal mom just trying to support her babies and herself. You know how it’s going to end. Monaghan takes the reader on a charming tale of finding love unexpectedly.
