Yeah, that’s kind of my thinking here. Not everyone is going to want to spend laptop-like pricing on a device that’s really designed just for gaming. But it’s hard to argue that the hardware isn’t worth that price since that’s what laptops with similar specs often sell for. In some tests, the extra power made a small difference, if any at all. But the differences seemed most noticeable in multi-core CPU tests and in some 3D graphics tests. Press it once and the Windows on-screen keyboard pops up. Press it again and the keyboard goes away. There is not a massive difference between the three devices here. They will all perform your day to day tasks just fine. 3DMark

This is somewhat worrisome to me, but I am unable to find any clear statement for those two topics. The ONEXPLAYER is essentially another in the line of [Switch]-styled windows gaming handhelds that presents an opportunity to play AAA games on a handheld device. watt-hours divided by 20 watts equals 3 hours. Of course, the processor isn’t the only thing that consumes power, there’s also the memory, storage, and display. But on a gaming PC, the CPU and graphics are two of the most energy-hungry components. The connector for the keyboard is also missing. Another great feature with the intel model is the ability to add an EGPU so I plan on setting it up to my TV with an EGPU and couple of Xbox controllers to turn it into a family console. Mouse works really well. So well, in fact, that I barely missed having a touchscreen. Text input using the on-screen keyboard can be a little tedious, but most other things are very easy to use with just the game controller buttons including launching and closing applications, moving, copying, or deleting files and folders, and, of course, playing games. I did not do any testing with the system configured to run at lower than 20W during my time with the ONEXPLAYER, so I cannot give any real-world performance notes about just how much that affects performance and/or battery life. I now have more time for casual gaming because of the portability of the device and not having to sit at my desktop or pull out the laptop, so finally trying some of older games and indie games in my Steam library that I have accumulated over the years but never played. Battery life, the battery life is around 2 hours actually playing games. Don't expect anything more. I rarely had my switch unplugged because I would play longer than the 3 hours it could at times. I've grown to have the habit to always play this device plugged in. This is easy for me because I only use handheld devices at home for convenience or in a hotel/plane where there is power. But I will say that I have no complaints about the layout, size, or responsiveness of the game controllers. And many of the games I’ve tested run smoothly on the ONEXPLAYER with no adjustments needed. We’ll be headlining this ONEXPLAYER FAQ with the specs of the unit (as we know them to be at the time of writing).For example, you could use it with Steam’s in-home streaming or a cloud gaming service like Google Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce Now, or Microsoft XBox cloud gaming (xCloud) to play titles that might not otherwise run on a device with Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. However, the larger resolution – while more comfortable to look at – may present a small hit in performance if you want to really make the most of every single pixel. This does highlight one of the positives of using Windows on the Onexplayer though, and that is it is fundamentally a standard PC. The lone USB Type-A port at the top of the device allows you to plug in all manner of peripherals, and they'll just work. You'll find a pair of USB 4.0 Type-C ports up here as well, which can be used for charging or for connecting newer peripherals. The GPD Win 3 scores an average of 35 FPS over the course of the match. The GPD Win MAX 2021 scores an average of 40 FPS. And the ONEXPLAYER 1S scores an average of 44 FPS over the course of the match. But when I reviewed the original OneGx1 (with a less powerful processor and inferior graphics), I was underwhelmed by those detachable controllers. I thought the computer made a decent mini-laptop, but a less-than-stellar gaming machine.
