Not being a smart toothbrush the total number of components used are less, thus less waste is created when the brush no longer works. If you’re not bothered with the whole idea of apps and smart toothbrushes, then the iO Series 3 is amazing value and, arguably, the best brush in Oral-B’s whole range. It boasts the same magnetic drive technology as the other brushes in Oral-B’s flagship iO-Series range, but comes without the advanced sensors and Bluetooth connectivity to monitor your brushing and send the data to your smartphone. In practice, that means a quieter brush with a more comfortable vibration, and one that still leaves your incisors feeling polished and your molars super-clean, as well as doing a fantastic job of clearing plaque from between your teeth.

Another neat design feature is the rear-mounted pressure sensor, which illuminates red to tell you you’re applying too much force and pressure to the teeth during cleaning. Acting as a visual indicator, it really helps to make you more aware of any bad brushing habits you've fallen into thus reducing the chance of you doing any damage to the teeth. It’s a simple yet clever design detail that works exceptionally well and helps you to brush your teeth the way your dentist would want. Utilising the same head attachments as most other modern Oral-B toothbrushes, the Pro 2 2500 is great at getting into those hard to reach areas thanks to the smaller-sized rotating heads. But, you will find that the colour of the bristles on the provided CrossAction brush head will change. Known as CleanMaximiser bristles, over 3 months they will gradually fade from green to yellow. They are a visual clue that it might be time to switch the head you are using. I have noticed toothpaste/moisture can build up around the metal shaft that extends out from the brush handle. Drips down the brush head and pools here. Oral-B brushes are louder than most and the Pro 2 2000 has quite a mechanical noise that registers at 76 decibels. It isn’t like the quieter audible humming sound of sonic brushes that fall into the 60 decibel range.

Confused by Oral-B’s sprawling range of toothbrushes? Well we’ve picked out the best of the brand’s brushes for every need and budget

With regards to the Oral-B 1 series specifically; it has limited box contents which reduces its weight during transportation compared to others that come with more items. The box could be made a bit smaller, saving space and resources. Thanks for Sharing your opinions Richard. There are a few brushes that still use NiMH, but certainly a much more limited choice. Jon is a leading voice on electric toothbrushes and has been quoted by mainstream media publications for his opinions and expertise. The size of Oral-B’s round brush head is something many users come to really like. Smaller than most, it is able to reach tighter spaces in the mouth and gives a satisfying clean. It can feel more intense and almost aggressive compared to the softer brushing sensation you might get with the likes of a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. By the very nature of the product, they are not immune to failure. 2 years of manufacturer support is provided as standard, but this can be extended for free to a pretty generous 3 years, if you register the brush. You should be hopeful of 5+ years of service from the Pro 1. I’m happy to start using this brush and I got it as a Birthday present. It’s a pink one but that’s fine by me, I dont care about the colour too much and Pink is Cool! Regular price 100€ and it was on sale for 50€, good price, fair price for sure. It’s not a cheapo value electric toothbrush, but also not a high-high end one. No need to get a high end one, In my opinion. Reply The supplied white charging stand has a 2 pin power adapter hardwired into it, with a cable length of about 90cm. It supports 220-240v.

A pressure sensor is one of the features our dentists recommend is present in a good electric toothbrush. This is because many people have a tendency to scrub their teeth and brush with more force than is necessary. Doing so will damage the teeth and gums over the long term and isn’t as effective at cleaning the teeth in the short term either. Thanks for the comment. I cannot say after how long the battery will deteriorate to the point it will only hold charge for about 1 day.

The best Oral-B electric toothbrushes to buy in 2023

With that said, the Pro 1 does have the dentist recommended 2 minute timer and pacer. It cleans the teeth really well and gives you a choice of 3 different cleaning modes.
