It is surprising your dental surgery doesn’t have a hygienist, but if you are committed you could look for one locally, at another practice and go together with your son and discuss your oral care routine etc. It will cost you, but it may well be a good investment. I spoke to Braun Oral b, and they were extremely helpful in resolving my travel issue, but I think it is still worth bringing to buyers attention if they are going on any 2 week plus trip. Reply PROTECT YOUR GUMS WITH iO PRESSURE SENSOR, Oral-B's only one to signal if you brush TOO HARD, TOO SOFT or JUST RIGHT for an effective and safe clean. The iO series is quieter, by about 10 decibels. It is also a little less mechanical sounding, more of a loud humming sound. I originally wanted the iO series 7 because Consumer Reports here in the US gave it a top rating but it is expensive for an electric toothbrush. But then I saw the Genius X also got an excellent review on CR and saw that the Costco version of the Genius was going on sale this month so I started to consider that one. I’ll take a look at the Smart Clean 360 as well. The features that are most important to me are the pressure sensor and timer. I also want to factor in the price of the replacement heads because that will add up over time.

If the last thing you want to do is connect your toothbrush to a smartphone and have it with you in the bathroom, you would benefit from the more affordable Smart 1500. Thanks again Jon. One last question. Do the Oral-B Smart, Smart Clean and Genius toothbrushes all use the same toothbrush heads? I know the iO series use a different head. Reply ENHANCED SMART PRESSURE SENSOR signals red, white or green to alert you whether you're brushing too hard, too softly or with just the right amount of pressure I now have my own child and I’ve tried to encourage my child to brush their teeth but it’s not been easy to be consistent when I’m not brushing regularly enough myself and I have pretty poor technique. This model is the same series as the Genius 6000 (3765). The only difference between these models (6000, 8000, & 9600) are the amount of speeds, accessories included, etc.Depending on the model you go for, you have the choice between 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 brushing modes. 7 is the maximum number of cleaning modes available on any Oral-B brush. For me, the fancy charging stand isn’t too big a factor. If bathroom visuals are important to you, maybe the magnetic stand is worth paying for. Otherwise, you can get by just fine with the cheaper stand. If you are undergoing treatment for any oral care condition, consult your dental professional prior to use.

Oral-B iO brushes typically offer around 2 weeks of use on a full charge The iO6 achieved an average of 16 days in my testing. Oral-B makes only 2 styles of brush head for the Oral-B iO. These are called the Ultimate Clean and Gentle Care heads. Both will work with braces. Do not place or store the charger where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink. Do not place the charger in water or other liquid. She’ll be gifting me the 7 from my Christmas wish list. In a surprise plot twist, I’ll be handing her the 9 at the same time. Each of the modes use different amounts of power from the motor. This impacts the angle of oscillation at the bristle tips to create brushing patterns and effects that are different from one another.

The Series 5 comes with a refill holder that holds and protects 2 brush heads. The iO6 does not come with this.

In operation

The iO5 has a brush head replacement reminder light in the cleaning mode button. The iO6 has this reminder on the display. I’ve yet to find anyone who uses them all or any real justification for having so many. The reality is the cleaning results between each are very similar. Not intended for use by children under age of 3 years. This appliance is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety. In general, we recommend that you keep the appliance out of the reach of children. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

From an overall space point of view, I don’t believe there is really a great deal in it between the case for the Series 7 and 9. I haven’t done the maths. A full charge will take up to about 12 hours. It takes up to 12 hours to recharge the lithium-ion battery sealed inside the iO6. Is it safe to say that the motor and battery are better on the series 9 over the 7?? If it’s the same then I agree with your assessment of the 7 being the better deal BUT if the motor and battery are better than I would def opt for the series 9. Reply I don’t believe it is a reason to ditch a perfectly functional brush in preference of the iO6, but it is a benefit should you make the switch.

There is one difference between the models that you have not mentioned, and may be important to some buyers. The series6 is single voltage (110-130v), whereas the Series 7,8,9, are dual voltage (110-220v). Of course, the table and quoted prices are just a guide. The actual selling prices vary from one retailer to another.
