Andy added: “We initially thought it was just a case of weak eye muscle which was affecting Pixie’s eye; never for one second did we think it could be a brain tumour. This toy is super adorable. It has three modes of play: nurture, spin, and dance. In nurture mode, the toy will give kisses for as long as held to your cheek. The tail is mostly just a bracelet. It doesn’t really stabilize the toy in any way. It stands on your shoulder with a fairly strong magnet that your place under the shirt. It holds pretty well. Keep hair clear of the toy, bc it does spin pretty fast. The brand of product you buy can vary in importance, from person to person. Some people will of course be much more particular about the brands they will use. Whilst others aren’t interested in the brand and are more interested in the overall quality or price of the product itself. Thankfully Pixie Belles is a brand that many customers have grown to love over the years and is very popular for items in the Playsets and figures category. The next step after looking at products in the same category, was to look at products from the same brand, Pixie Belles.

Looking at Pixie-Belle Sykes' adorable, smiling face, it is hard to believe that she faces the next year-and-a-half of her life undergoing chemotherapy for a rare brain tumour. As you can imagine, pricing is one of the most important factors of any purchasing decision. We can find the perfect product for our needs, that fits the brief in every single way. But if it doesn’t fit our budgets, we simply can’t (or at least shouldn’t) buy it. Up until her diagnosis, Pixie had always been completely fit and healthy, a really happy young girl so we were stunned when we were told she had a brain tumour. Read More Related ArticlesDevastatingly, the MRI scan uncovered a brain tumour behind her right eye and the following week Pixie underwent a biopsy, which thankfully revealed that the tumour was non-malignant. We’ve got a long road ahead of us with Pixie-Belle’s treatment, but getting involved in the charity has given me something to focus on.” Andy comments: “I signed up to fundraise for the hospital before we had any idea about Pixie-Belle’s condition. I tend not to believe in fate but it feels like fate now that we are under their care following Pixie-Belle’s diagnosis. The Charity’s latest Appeal is to help children like Pixie-Belle who have been diagnosed with brain tumours, so that’s what I’m passionate about fundraising for. Everyone at the hospital has been amazing and I can’t thank them enough for their care and expertise.” Next up is material. Read through the product description for Pixie Belles to get an understanding of the materials the product is made from. Some materials will obviously be known for delivering better quality item than others. You might also have decided that you’ll only accept a product made from a particular material.

She has been so incredibly brave and has inspired family, friends and people from all around her community to fundraise for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity. In our area, everyone knows PixieBelle, she is a shining light.”

Pixie-Belle was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour after her parents noticed something wrong with her eye (Image: RMCH) The first is brand. Looking at the brand of the product is often a really good indicator for judging product quality. For example you’d expect a much higher quality product from a brand known for providing excellent quality than you would from an unknown or even a budget brand. She was given an eye patch to try, but when it didn't work the school girl was referred to RMCH for an emergency eye appointment and MRI scan. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have used Pixie Bell Sweets and they’ve been brilliant every time. I have also recommended them to others who have gone on to use them. My only problem is making sure I don’t keep them for myself!! By chance, Andy had already signed up to take on the Manchester Half Marathon on 14th October to fundraise for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, before his daughter was admitted under its care. Since his daughter’s diagnosis, Andy is determined to fundraise for the hospital’s recently launched iMRI Scanner Appeal, to build a new intra-operative MRI (iMRI) scanning suite that will revolutionise brain surgery at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

Now aged nine, the youngster is just one of 60 people worldwide benefiting from the treatment, which unlike chemotherapy, is taken in tablet form. Mum Katie says: “There are far fewer side effects, and PixieBelle is able to pretty much carry on life on as normal. She loves to dance and perform and everything she has had to go through she has just embraced and pushed through.

Manchester Foundation Trust Charity is registered with the Charity Commission as Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Charity. Registered Charity 1049274. In December 2018, after 21 weeks of chemotherapy, she had an adverse reaction to the drugs, and had to start all over again from week one, with different medication. It meant that PixieBelle, from Ashton-under-Lyne, had to endure a total of 111 sessions of treatment at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. More information on quality can be found in this old but still very helpful article from Harvard Business Review. Pixie Belles come with interchangeable, and wearable tails! Swap them between Pixie Belles, or wear them in your hair, on your wrist, or even as a keychain! Price is another really important factor for analysing the quality of Pixie Belles vs other products in the Playsets and figures category. It’s obvious, but you will need to set your expectations of quality based on your budget and the price of the product you’re looking at, against the price of alternatives. There’s nothing worse than seeing your daughter go through this, and my focus has to remain strong for her and the family.”Pixie-Belle’s dad Andy said: “We initially thought it was just a case of weak eye muscle which was affecting Pixie’s eye; never for one second did we think it could be a brain tumour.
