Nose: Freshly ground almonds, toffee and orange peel. Palate: Light, delicious and rounded with a fresh almond sweetness and a long, candied finish. Hi. So which do most drinkers prefer, honey based. Or Molasses based. I'm a big fan of Maison Ferrand Plantation Rum. I don't like most Spiced rums. Thank you John The Tosolini family are committed to preserving and refining the knowledge that their grandfather Bepi acquired from the master distillers of the territory of Friuli. This philosophy has resulted in a continual search for improved product quality and purity, while maintaining the intuition and mastery displayed by Bepi Tosolini also resulted in some innovations in the production of distillates. Defined by a famous journalist from the specialised press as the "patriarch of the still", Bepi arranged for some special steam stills featuring manual controls to be built, which are still used by the company today. In fact, the steam still does not burn" the marc or the grapes, but instead delicately transports the alcoholic vapours to the top of the device, allowing a pure and aromatic distillate to be obtained. Nose: Enticing combination of Battenberg cake and cherry Bakewell tart with an intense almond note. The casks used for the 300th anniversary edition undergo a long toasting period before being filled...

Something different for February’s Spirit of the Month – a liqueur. We’ve chosen a classic Italian almond-flavoured example: Salizá Amaretto Veneziano from Bepi Tosolini. Unlike most other main-steam amaretto brands, Saliza is made from real crushed almonds, and god can you taste the difference! Registered in England and Wales (Company No. 4449145). Registered Office: Elixir House, Whitby Avenue, Park Royal, London NW10 7SF,UK.

Whatever the true story of amaretto’s origin, the market for this rather unsung ingredient has exploded, with artisan offerings and mass market options both available. How much do they differ? And which one is best? We put our taste buds on the line to find out.

I'd say there's not a lot between them. I'd say that the techniques used to make the rum change the flavour more than the raw material between molasses and cane honey, so it'll be other factors that...For over 60 years, the Bepi Tosolini distillery has been the finest Italian representation of high quality grappa and liqueurs. This superior Amaretto made by master distiller Bepe Tosolini is a cut above other expressions, combining a delightful elegance with huge flavour intensity. Comment: The best amaretto I’ve tried. The nose drew me in with two of my favourite desserts and continued onto the palate with superb integration of flavours. Much more enjoyable and less cloying than I was expecting. All were primarily tasted neat. Here’s our official ranking, from best to worst — though in all fairness, none of these liqueuers were unpalatable. Finish: Long with intense almond slowly dissipating to leave a pleasant hint of ginger at the finale.
