Description

Using trademarked SensiFit technology makes sure the Supercross 3 wraps like a glove around your feet, adjusting as if modeled for your feet alone. This is essential for trail running as fast feet need snug shoes. With their high heel counter and a large 10mm drop, we don't feel these shoes are the most stable, especially when bombing downhill, as we are here in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. That didn't stop us from putting them to the test, but we think they could do with a little bit less under the heel. GORE-TEX is perfect for a trail running shoe; this breathable membrane is great for keeping water out whilst allowing moisture to pass through and it's super lightweight.

Salamon released their first snowboard in 1997, and since then have firmly cemented their highly respected place in the snowboarding industry, just as they have done for the last 50 years with alpine skiing, nordic skiing, hiking, trail running, and everything else associated with mountain life. The Salomon Supercross 3 is a great competitor in the trail-running field, but it does come with some things that you may want to consider. These aren't great for mixed terrain so be mindful of that. Nothing is more uncomfortable than feeling the sweat gathering in your shoe and festering whilst you pound the ground! The shoes upper felt a little bit chilly on the cold days I had it out, but it is December in Montana, so go figure. The Salomon Supercross 3 GTX is a versatile running shoe that can take you from the town to the trail. If you like to mix up your running, this lightweight shoe is just as at home in your local park as it is on a rugged off-road route.

The fabric is also ideal for allowing the foot to move more freely and adjust according to the ground you are on.

Jeff: Aside from a few minor limitations, such a foothold, warm upper, no lace garage or Endofit, I find the Supercross to be an excellent addition to the Salomon line up in that it is a very fairly priced shoe with enough performance, comfort, traction, durability and versatility to satisfy a wide variety of runners and hikers who are looking for maximum value. I'm always a fan of the materials Salomon use, with their skill and expertise showing through the quality choice of material. A protect rubber toe cap and rubber sole allows for easier, securer running plus more comfort. Durability is evident through the ripstop upper, a material known for its durability and resistance to scratches. Sam: I was surprised by the versatility and overall comfort of the Supercross. Representing a new direction for Salomon in terms of value, roomier fit, softer ride, and flexibility while retraining an aggressive outsole which doesn’t get in the way on firmer smooth terrain, the Supercross is a most versatile trail runner, hiker, travel, and even casual shoe. I will definitely be pulling them out this winter for trail runs on snow due to their flexibility and grip as well as for sloppy slushy road days. A very aggressive sole allows for some semi-rugged trail running but does not deter a leisurely run around an urban trail area. The shoe is lightweight for a trail runner, has a responsive feel, and boasts a comfortable fit. You can see the massive difference between the height of the foam underfoot in the forefoot and the heel. The heel is very protective, while the forefoot is rather sensitive. You can also see that while there are a lot of overlays on the upper, the crease point on the forefoot is left exposed to abrasion and early tearing.Although the Salomon shoe provides plenty of support and grip for trail runs, they are not mountaineering boots. With foot protection classed as light, what they lose in grip and ankle stability, they make up for with a lightweight and flexible feel, allowing you to move swiftly on the run.

This flexible shoe is both breathable and lightweight and will enhance your performance, adding more pleasure to your run. Hitting the trails in the northern Front Range of Colorado when the aspen leaves are at their peak is a real treat, here running in the Supercross. Boasting maximum cushioning and GORE-TEX to keep the wet out, the Salomon Supercross 3 is a great option for a lighter trail run that doesn't require too much protection from loose and uneven ground. This shoe hit my training cycle right at the perfect time. My long Ultras are done for the year, and my mileage has tapered off a bit, but the trails around Missoula are still pretty run-able. A dedicated trail running shoe to be certain, the Supercross finds its home on a variety of terrain and even felt pretty good on a gravel pedestrian trail. With five different color options, the Supercross will also fit nicely into the color palate of any runners wardrobe. Fit of the Supercross The Supercross is a great option for travel where some running in the mix, fast hiking, and around town due to its easy on and off, generous fit, and traction. The EnergyCell Midsole used for the Salomon Supercross 3 is a famous kit that Salomon often uses in their hikers and trail runners. This multi-functional EVA Foam Midsole provides a mixture of comfort and protection.
