About this deal

I’ve been wearing Kinvaras for many years but am currently dabbling in other options both by Saucony and other brands. I’d always written off Brooks because I’ve heard it suits a narrow foot so it’s very interesting to see your point about the wider toe box. I’ll definitely give them a try on my next visit to the shoe store. This is a great review, thank you! I’m a long time sponsored Brooks athlete, but I still enjoy learning about other running shoe brands and the various benefits each brand offers. I am wondering, is there a reason that you did not include Brooks’ carbon plated shoe, the Hyperion Elite? Thanks again. Brooks refers to individual running gaits as the “Run Signature.” Rather than “fix” the way someone runs, Brooks technology helps to stabilize your stride based on how you naturally run. Endorphin Shift 3– This feels like a cushioned slightly stabilizing shoe, good for everyday training. It’s not been my favorite Saucony shoe and I tend to like most of their shoes. A few years ago, when Saucony re-introduced the Triumph with an expanded Polyurethane (aka the Everun) midsole, we thought, ‘Here comes another unoriginal adidas Boost copycat.’

The footbed is brand-new, and is made of the resilient Pwrrun+, a kind of expanded PU foam. As a result, the superficial ride comfort benefits greatly. It wasn’t until Frank Shorter won the marathon at the 1972 Munich Olympics that Brooks considered limiting its focus. The first running shoe debuted in 1974 and their most popular running shoe, the Adrenaline GTS first hit the market in 1999.The goal is by combing the foam and the carbon fiber you get a ride that really propels you to go the distance with less fatigue.

These two are the most popular neutral running shoes from Saucony. Both have been around for many years and continued to improve. Even though there is great flexibility within these shoes, it is important to reiterate that this in no way comes at the cost of support.

The upper, of course. It has the familiar lightweight softness of the Kinvara 12, but things are cooler inside due to a partial gusset instead of the K-12’s fully sleeved construction. The fit is still true-to-size. Performance: B- (Great recovery long mileage running shoe. Shoe is a bit heavy for faster runs and it is noticeable during uptempo runs.) The brand’s most popular road running shoe (GTS stands for go-to-shoe) just turned 22 and comes in a swath of colors. This supportive shoe is best for a medium to high arch, and is part of the cushion line. Brooks does a great job with online fit, the Brooks shoe fit finder will give you an idea of what to look for in a running shoe when you do visit your local store.

Saucony has made a splash in the last year with it’s new Endorphin collection. Really standing out as shift in technology and flashier marketing than we’ve seen from the brand, which alerted many runners to a brand they may have overlooked. How do you say Saucony? Not much has changed on the Kinvara 13. It shares an identical midsole and outsole with the outgoing model, so nothing has changed from a ride standpoint. Our detailed review of the Kinvara 13 is here. Another improvement in the Hurricane 23 is the sizing. I know some runners had issues with sizing in the Hurricane 22s, but Saucony fixed that. The Hurricane 23 is true-to-size. DPT/Footwear Science: B+ (Shoe companies are beginning to change how stability shoes function. They are beginning to rely less on a true post and more on stability through other components of the shoe. This allows the shoe to be more comfortable and soft while still providing the support someone needs. This shoe is a good example of that.)

What You Need To Know

Founded in Pennsylvania in 1898 and relocated to Cambridge, MA in the 1960s, Saucony is one of the oldest running shoes brands. So if you’re looking for a comfortable yet supportive trainer for your everyday and high-mileage runs, give the Tempus some consideration.

Where they differ most are in the fit and that Saucony is also well known for their casual classic shoes. The heel-to-toe drop is a lot higher than I tend to like, but it’s a very standard traditional running shoe feel. So if you’re looking for that everyday run shoe, which can provide a moderate amount of cushion to go the distance, it’s a win. The Omni 20 got a complete makeover earlier this year, so it doesn’t feel out of place the way the Omni 19 did. It may have an old-school medial post – aka a ‘pronation control’ thingy – but the midsole design is new, and so is the upper that’s based on the contemporary Saucony design language. Pwrrun PB looks like adidas Boost, but it isn’t. This foam is PEBA – a much lighter and bouncier material. There’s a little more to it. The inner mesh sleeve is actually made of 4 different kind of meshes, on the midfoot, midfoot sides, toebox, tongue… Personal: C+ (As someone who runs in a neutral shoe, this high stability shoe was tough to fall in love with)
