I happen to have a really neat soft bristle brush that came with my Nikon D3200 that I use to get the dust and particles out every so often. I joined Sennheiser in 1991 as a Development Engineer, and my very first product was the HD 598,” recalls Axel Grell, Head of Portfolio Management Audiophile, Sennheiser. “This was the beginning of our audiophile collection and set the standard in the field of audiophile headphone technology. I am honored by the passion and interest the Massdrop community maintains in our product line, and I am happy to see the HD 58X come to life for the enjoyment of a new generation of audiophiles.” We live and breathe audio. We are driven by the passion to create audio solutions that make a difference. Midrange: Onto midrange, this is the highlight of these headphones. The midrange is very good on these, in almost every category. Mids and vocals have a fantastic amount of presence. Vocals never sound shouty or overly present, but they have this degree of separation from the rest of the music which allows for them to shine through in a way which is hard to explain with words. If you’ve never heard the midrange of a Sennheiser 6 series, it’s hard to explain. In a way, vocals sound completely clear in every song, but are never harsh or overly in your face. The S and T region of vocals are also never sibilant, as these headphones have a very natural sounding vocal presentation. The timbre is extremely natural and is the closest to a vocal in real life that I’ve heard. The midrange is very slightly more forward overall then the treble response and bass response though, so vocals will be more present then a flat response. In terms of warmth, these are more warm then other headphones, and that applies to most of the midrange, especially vocals. It’s an enjoyable warmth though, and isn’t muddy. For detail and separation in midrange, these do a very good job for the price, but not nearly as good as the 6XX. It is impressive though especially regarding how the treble response is on the darker side. Due to the treble response being darker though, acoustic music as well as orchestral isn’t fantastic on these, but it is passable I’d say. As a whole, the midrange is very impressive, especially for the price, and especially for vocals. Even though it isn’t perfect, it is very impressive, and among the best I’ve heard in a headphone. Four years after the launch of the HD 580 Precision, Sennheiser later celebrated its 50th anniversary with the release of the HD 580 Jubilee headphones, which would later become the HD 600 and lead to the HD 650. In the spirit of the HD 580, using current technology and incorporating the optimizations learned throughout the development of the series, Drop announced the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee. Finally I replaced my G6 due to problems with the drivers and because I wanted a better-looking DAC with multiple inputs (the G6 has both USB and mini-Toslink inputs but only one works at a time and you can't switch manually between them). So I bought a Topping E30 to test. And, oh boy was it good. The bass in these headphones is one of the best, if not THE best I have heard from any pair of headphones at this price! I don’t know what foreign realm of unrealism you’ve entered our atmosphere from, but the HD58X is far from having any soundstage. I’ll admit you are right about them having a smidgen more than the HD600, but they neither sound out-of-head, nor spacious. They sound congested, narrow, and bland. Imaging is also not a strongsuit. The entire Sennheiser lineup suffers that same truth with the exception being the HD800’s, so they’re certainly not holographic.TV/"Home theatre" Setup: Sony Bravia KDL42w653a (calibrated with Spyder4Pro and HCFR) -> miniDSP 2x4 -> JBL 308P Mkii Speakers (2-channel) & SVS SB-1000 Pro Subwoofer

In Depth Sennheiser HD58X Review : r/headphones - Reddit In Depth Sennheiser HD58X Review : r/headphones - Reddit

It’s comparable to something like a Sundara or 400 series headphone – above average in terms of Soundstage, but not exemplary. In fact, Anyone ready to make the jump from listening while commuting to listening for enjoyment. Sure, the Bose QuietComfort 45 and Sony WH-1000XM5 are great for outside the home, but there’s something about the Jubilee that makes it a joy to actually listen to your music, rather than have it serve as a distraction. Neutrality: HD598 > DT990 > HD58X > HD650 (I felt the HD 650 tends to gravitate towards darkness, whereas the HD598 were the most neutral and flat sounding in the bunch with the HD 58X somewhere in the middle with its liveliness in its sound signature) By the time you get it to how you want the 58X to sit on your head, the cups may not be perfectly symetrical with all the bending of the headband you did.I can recommend the MASSDROP Sennheiser HD58X JUBILEE without EQ. With EQ, it is a hair from getting top honors from me!

This, in addition to comfort, are what makes the 58X perfect for long listening or mixing sessions. Reference While it can and will work for lighter genres like Jazz and Classical, I may not use it full-time for those as I believe the K702 is a much better all-rounder for delicate compositions and lighter acoustic strumming. Video Discussion As with the HD6XX, the high frequency of the HD58X could be a bit more intense. It avoids the sibilants very well and has a good resolution, but I see some quality advantages with the HD6XX, which are not decisive. In comparison, the lower trebles are a bit more reduced, so that the upper mids are more effective than on the HD6XX. There is not too much to add to the description of the HD6XX, because besides the sonic similarities they share the structural ones.

Would you invest in a 58X? What is your experience with these headphones? I would love to hear your thoughts. Until next time…

Remember when I told you in the HD 598SE’s review that those had one of the most boring and flat sounding bass? Well, these headphones are just the reverse…. They have bass that can bring a smile to anyone’s face from a hardcore bass head to a proper audiophile. Just keep in mind that the headband has been known to snap under pressure like Henry Hill in Goodfellas. After around a month of use with these headphones for various different use cases, I’m definitely ready to give my review on these. I’ve mainly used these for music, as well as music Production. you’ll notice the mid-range tends to jump out at you more so than a 560S, and vocals, in particular, can sound a bit gruff and almost overly forward.

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee review - SoundGuys

This review is not intended to be a shootout between the HD6XX and the HD58X. Both have their right to exist. point. Nevertheless the comparison is obvious. The HD58X radiates more energy and also has the slightly better extension in the low frequency range. Due to the clearer focus on the upper mids due to the somewhat restrained lower treble range compared to the HD6XX, the absolute balance gets a bit lost, but still, the HD58X strives for a neutral sound with a slight warmth. Playlist: Here! Keep in mind total hours will always exceed what you see on Spotify as I don’t add every single song I listen to. Headphones: Beyerndynamic DT 880 600ohm, Grado 125e, Sennheiser GSP 500, Sennheiser HD555 (everlasting)basically, I was very impressed. Also, this is a great gaming headphone for those interested in using it for that purpose. There are certainly better headphones that resolve more (at higher or much higher prices), but these are good especially considering the aggressive price. It's a headphone that sounds good (not excellent), and suits general use with music, gaming, watching youtube.
