About this deal

When quizzed about their feelings towards alcohol alternatives for a recent Mintel report, nearly three-quarters of those who said drinking no-alcohol drinks made them feel good said they would be interested in trying non-alcoholic/alcohol-free drinks with relaxing ingredients or added vitamins/minerals. Susie Goldspink, head of no- and low-alcohol at IWSR Drinks Market Analysis, said: “Product messaging [from companies is] shifting from the absence of alcohol to flavour and other benefits.” GABA, which is present in, well, all living things, isn’t an active ingredient in and of itself. GABA in—say—a drink, a fruit, a grain of rice, or a blade of grass, can’t get from there into your brain, because GABA can’t pass through the BBB. But Sentia doesn’t “contain” GABA in that sense, because getting GABA down your throat, on to your intestinal tract and then into your bloodstream isn’t going to get it into your brain—that’s not how this works.

Gaba Spirits - Sentia Red 20cl / 50cl – Sentia Spirits

In short, GABA Spirits aim to offer the 'good effects' we seek from alcohol, without the downsides of alcohol. Our ancestors started drinking booze millions of years ago, and we never stopped. Alcohol is embedded in nearly every culture in the world as a social lubricant, marker of taste and cornerstone of celebrations. Sentia contains compounds that pass from your intestines and into your blood—and compounds that help that happen. The real magic is how these substances then trigger the release of GABA in your brain. It’s your brain that creates the GABA that matters. What Sentia is Made From The team at GABAlabs have scoured humanity’s extensive pharmacopeia and identified a plethora of naturally occurring GABAergic plants, plants that enhance the effects of GABA release, and plants that enhance the uptake of these from your gut to your bloodstream and then to your brain. That’s what Alcohol does. What a fantastic team that have created a wonderful and unique product! Not only is this a drink that can be creatively adapted to any taste, it is also botanically beneficial to your health and your head! I had such a great experience discovering Sentia and would recommend it to anyone, especially my sober friends! I’m feeling slightly squiffy already. I can definitely feel a little buzz, my commute home should be interesting.” (in English)

A friend who knows his pale ales declared it tasted like the regular alcohol version and he loved it.

Sentia Red, which hit bars two years ago, is intended to mimic the effect of alcohol by stimulating the neurotransmitter in the brain that calms it down. This is known as the GABA (short for gamma-aminobutyric acid) system, which is the same one Valium targets. This non-alcoholic agave spirit has an almost smoky, woody aroma to it and it goes really well with tonic. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a positive review! We truly appreciate your kind words and are thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with us. It was developed by Professor David Nutt at GABA Labs after 40 years of scientific research and five years of product development. At the same time, GABA Labs is expanding into the Botanical Spirits and Alcohol-Free beverage market with the launch of their subsidiary company – The Social Drinks Company (TSDC). During January, The Social Drinks Company will enter the consumer beverage market with their first Botanical Spirit, Sentia*.GABA Labs is a pioneering and science-driven company that develops ingredients as patentable alternatives to alcohol. ‘Alcarelle’ is a synthetic GABAergic* ingredient that can be used to make adult drinks and works as an effective catalyst for conviviality and social interaction without some of the unpleasant aspects of ethanol.

I tried substitute alcohol that gives you a buzz without the

I MADE a decision to remove alcohol from my life over two years ago and since then I think it’s fair to say I’ve sampled my fair share of alcohol-free drinks. So when the opportunity came up to do a Sentia review, I couldn't resist. Expectations: SENTIA is not designed to get you “drunk”, but offer a more refined experience. All feelings are of course very subjective, and will vary from person to person. I find the feeling of relaxation that comes from drinking Sentia Spirit far more pleasant than the effects of alcohol and obviously carries none of the associated dangers. As far as I'm concerned that's a massive win. Three Spirit belongs to the emerging functional sector of alcohol-free spirits; it contains adaptogens and herbs such as valerian, hops and lemon balm, which all help you relax and sleep well, so it’s a great choice after a stressful day at work. All the ingredients are either foods or food additives, so they’re covered by safety standards already.’After one glass, I feel just like I would after a gin and tonic (my usual go-to). My cheeks are slightly flushed and I’m definitely more relaxed. After a second, I’m a bit giggly and chatty. How far can I take this, I wonder? I drink a third, then a fourth, but the sensation doesn’t progress much further. Unlike with alcohol, you can’t get beyond that initial tipsy feeling. GABA Labs is now raising investment to support the regulatory processes for Alcarelle, and to develop further their bioprospecting program into plant-based molecules using AI-based techniques. I love Sentia Spirits!!!! First found it at an alcohol free market in Brighton and from then on I always get myself one on birthday and Christmas 😊😊😊 a great feeling and a great, unique taste! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to either cut down their alcohol intake or wants to try a jazzy new beverage 😊😊😊
