Description

To help footballers level up their play, football drills that focus on speed, agility and footwork are key, said Ben Fleming, CSCCA and USAW Level 1-certified coach, who's worked with football teams at universities including the University of Central Florida.

The magazine was also known for its "Star Writer" features. Each season a selection of big-name First Division players, including Alan Ball, Billy Bremner, Kenny Dalglish, Kevin Keegan, Bryan Robson and Charlie Nicholas, wrote (or had ghost-written for them) columns on their football lives. This feature continued in the monthly incarnation of the magazine, with stars including Joe Cole and Danny Mills penning regular columns. Create space for yourself; you may have the best shot in the world, but if you can’t get yourself into a position where an open strike presents itself, your skill will go wholly untested. That’s why before you consider taking a shot, you need to create the space on the field where the opportunity to take a shot will materialize. Level up this drill by adding in both speed and distance, by dribbling the ball faster and further. Once you learn how to shoot a soccer ball and you're practicing regularly, powerful and accurate shots will become second nature. This is an effective drill because it involves using multiple planes of motion while dribbling, which mimics an actual game.

Pass, run on and shoot

I’ve scored a decent amount of goals with the toe shot. It’s far from ideal but can be effective in high pressure situations.

MAKE IT PERSONAL

Shooting the ball is one of the fundamental elements that round out the model of a complete football player. Shooting is not restricted to any one position, and it is a skill that every accomplished player should strive to master. Our highlights come with commentary in Arabic, providing an immersive experience tailored to our Arabic-speaking audience. This one piece of advice is important enough to reiterate: You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take. If you see an opportunity to shoot, take it! The only way these tips can help you is if you implement them, both in practice and in games. As with any soccer technique, you need to practice if you want to improve your shooting skills. Fortunately, the techniques used for shooting are similar to those used for passing. So you can build up two vital soccer techniques at the same time. Our final football shooting tip is to consider the clothes which you wear to train in. The chance of nailing your football shooting technique is going to be significantly reduced if the kit you’re wearing is uncomfortable. After all, any player would find it difficult to perform their best in gear which is either itchy, poorly ventilated, or the wrong size.

Set up two cones about three metres apart. Set them up as close or far from the goal as you’d like to work on your close or long shot. Place as many footballs as you have in a line near the penalty spot. Place a cone about 1.5 metres behind the balls in the centre of the line.Regardless of how long you spend staring at a target, without the right technique, you’ll struggle to hit it.
