Charlie Higson is the author of the phenomenally successful Young Bond and The Enemy series. Charlie is a man of many talents. He is a successful actor, comedian and writer for television and radio, but has been writing books for children since 2005.A sinister and secret society seems to be operating at Eton, while in the Mediterranean a young girl and her tutor are taken captive by a Hungarian pirate - but are the two linked? James’s Aunt Charmian was waiting for him on the platform. He held out his hand for her to shake, but she brushed it aside and gave him a big hug. Silverfin, a Level 1 Reader, is A1 in the CEFR framework. Short sentences contain a maximum of two clauses, introducing the past simple tense and some simple modals, adverbs and gerunds. Illustrations support the text throughout, and many titles at this level are graphic novels. An enjoyable story, but I had a hard time believing that this character would ever turn into James Bond. The artwork was interesting, and reminded me of Mignola's art in Hellboy, but the characters tended to be a bit too cliched. Condition: VG. 1st Amer ed.
