Description

Sir Scallywag and the Golden Underpants at the Stoller Hall Shekina Rose, Families Editor Last Updated 16 July 2023 This story is funny, light hearted, some great rhyming and some funny words used along the way. Not only that, but it teaches a great lesson in bullying, that they can be overcome by even the smallest of boys. An excellent lesson for young children. This is a beautifully illustrated book that follows the story of a young Sir Scallywag on his mission to recover the golden underpants. With rhyming verses, it has an enchanting ability to amuse and entertain its audience, especially when read aloud. I had to giggle at the title. Only can children’s books get away with such a curious title grabber. Then you begin to read the book and realize that King Colin is over the top, not just a little bit, but waaaay over the top and the title does not seem so out of place at all.

My boys and I are big Winnie the Witch fans, and this is a similar style so we loved this book. The books is aimed at boys I'd say from 3-6, however I am sure girls would love it to. It is perfect for my two who are 3 and 5. They laughed at the name and we all giggled away at this great story. Uh-oh! King Colin’s golden underpants have gone missing, and it’s up to Sir Scallywag to save the day, even if he is only six years old! Youngsters aged 3-7 and their grownups are invited to an unforgettable musical journey with Sir Scallywag and the Golden Underpants at The Stoller Hall this September, in a delightful performance that combines storytelling, music, and a dash of humour to create an enjoyable experience for the whole family. Based on the best-selling children’s book by award-winning children’s author Giles Andreae, this is a tale of courage and friendship, as Sir Scallywag encounters both challenges and delights along the way: a mischievous dragon, a witty talking horse, and a fearless princess. My 4 yr old boy loves this book. It is bold and its irreverence speaks to him. His love of knights and jousting of course is the drive but golden underpants was the cherry on top. What can I say...I LOVE the illustrations!! And the rhymes are fun and easy to read.

Cats’ favourite thing in the world is fish. So when Alfonso the cat overhears a two old men discussing the imminent arrival of a boat, carrying its largest ever catch, he hatches a plan. This book is very funny – fishtastic in fact! Welcome to the Itinerary Planner. Use this tool to build your own journey or choose from an exciting range of specially selected tours. I can see children finding this story very funny... especially the illustrations. The story is about a king who has his golden underpants stolen. He asks his bravest knight - Sir Scallywag - to go and find his underpants before breakfast. Sir Scallywag is only 6 years old though, so the reader questions whether he will be able to defeat the huge giant who stole the underpants. The author ends with a fantastic message for children - it does not matter how big you look, you can always show courage and be successful. I think children love the fact it's about underpants and it has some hilarious illustrations alongside it.
