About this deal

Fun rhymes about a cat turned thief in the night. The lists of items stolen are particularly detailed and amusing: "slippers and sausages, / biscuits, balloons, / brushes and bandages, / pencils and spoons." What is also heart warming in the story is how the family do not respond with family violence to their cat as often can happen with families when humans are disturbed from their comforts... These words are accompanied by an image of chaos — the legs of the human family members have caught him in a compromising position, tangled up all of his stolen gear. Here it looks like Slinky has been fighting with the stolen goods themselves; he is tangled up in wool and has a glove on his head. You could argue that the main opponent in this story are the alluring goods that he can’t help but steal. The items are almost personified.

This was a fun read. Slinky Malinki is an adorable cat. by day is is fun and playful and at night his naughty, mischievous side appears and boy does this cause trouble! An amazing book. It was so fun to read out loud. I love the word choices. It is a perfect example of a picture book having high vocabulary! Slinky Malinki is on the prowl at night looking for items to add to his heaping stash. He steals whatever he can find from slippers to teddy bears. One night he steals more than ever and gets busted by his human family.a b c L.R. (29 January 2014). "Slinky Malinki, Early Bird". New Zealand Doctor: 27. ISSN 1176-5631. Children's Book Awards". There is an unseen opponent in this story — young readers know that Slinky is not supposed to be taking those things, and that the things belong to people. For the reader, the opponents are the owners of the stolen items, who will get him into trouble if he is caught. For Slinky, his opponent is probably some unseen creature of the night. Slinky is an adrenalin junkie. Plan This book is hilarious and the illustrations are perfect. What I love most about it though, is that it's great for young readers with the way the story rhymes and repeats, yet it's interesting and keeps your attention as well. Kids can't wait to find out how the story will end. This is one to keep.

I borrowed this book from the library when my little boy was a toddler, not realising it would become one of my most treasured memories of a book. I adore this poem, and the artwork is perfect. It isn't an easy book to get hold of (at the time of writing) although we do own another in the Slinki Malinki series. Told through playful rhyme and vibrant watercolour illustration, this hilarious classic story has delighted children for generations. Here we have a startled teddy bear face to contrast with Slinky’s malevolent eyes. The bear seems to be looking at the reader for help. AnagnorisisTold in wonderful rhyme and through pictures full of life and movement, Slinky Malinki is the very first adventure of the rapscallion cat in Lynley Dodd's famous Hairy Maclary and Friends series. Told in rhyme, this is the story of Slinky Malinki, a cheeky and friendly cat by day, a master pilferer by night. Children will learn about rhythm and rhyme as they follow the hilarious antics of this rapscallion cat. The rich vocabulary of this book broadens its spectrum making it accessible to a larger audience. The hilarious illustrations will charm its audience. This book is entertaining and interactive with plenty of repetition to anticipate and join in with. a b Moesch, Christine A. (August 1991). "Slinky Malinki (Book)". One day I look forward to delving in deeply to Lynley Dodd’s perfect scansion, but for now I’ll point out the following techniques, also used by T.S. Eliot:
