Sonos is also less closed-off than it used to be. Until 2016, all music selection for your Play:1 had to be done through the Sonos app. Adjust the wireless channel the router is using (If ‘Auto’ is enabled, disable it and use channel 1, 6 or 11) The Sonos One gets loud. Keeping it on 50% is more than enough to enjoy music from anywhere in my apartment. For an entry-level speaker, the Sonos One (Gen 1) sounds very good. This gives it plenty of flexibility, and its gorgeous looks makes it stand out in your living room. Podcast fans may find their app of choice isn’t supported. Sonos’s solution is TuneIn Radio, the most popular internet radio app and also a good way to listen to podcasts. It comes ‘preinstalled’ in the Sonos app. Despite its age and the fact that it has a successor in the Era 100, the Sonos One remains one of the best smart speakers on the market.In the early days of the Sonos system you had to buy a bridge to connect your speakers to your home Wi-Fi. But now it’s much more like a standard wireless speaker. The Sonos Play:1, Sonos One and Sonos One SL all feature two Class-D digital amplifiers, one tweeter for high-frequency response and one mid-woofer for mid-range vocal frequencies and bass so the sound performance offered between these devices is solid across the board. The Sonos Play:1 compact wireless speaker has been discontinued.
