About this deal

Not that Hori is wrong, they need to print their stuff with what will make them more money, but those I said are so repetitive that its gotten boring already. 20 years ago, eevee, pikachu, charmander, etc were already boring clichés. Also use Turbo Hold to set the button to continually activate Turbo without having to hold the button down. The Split Pad Compact is functionally the same as the Split Pad Pro, so if you're happy with the existing Hori grip, there's really no reason to upgrade. The difference between the two is the size of the controller. The name cues you in on this fact already, but the Split Pad Compact is a trimmed- and slimmed-down iteration on the Split Pad Pro. It offers an entirely different form factor. Both Split Pad models are definitely worth considering if you're goal is to not only improve the ergonomics of handheld mode, but add more traditional controls. Alan Wake 2's minimum specs have disqualified my gaming laptop, and now I question the financial viability of PC gaming

Split Pad Compact (Gengar) for Nintendo Switch - HORI UK

Hori have just released Split Pad Pro Attachment Set where you buy the big controllers and a middle bit that makes the Split Pad Pro into a wired controller with a headphone/microphone port. (I haven't seen the middle bit sold separately yet.) Watch out for the Split Pad Fit get sold with this middle bit in the future maybe. I'm 100% going to get some of these. Having big hands I struggle using the joy-con for log sessions handheld. I'm also not fussed with no group, rumble etc. Always turn of rumble and only use gyro with my pro controller.

For single-player titles like Xenoblade 3, the Hori Split Pad Compact performed excellently. We never felt like we missed any features like IR or HD Rumble in the games that we tested. In the Street Fighter 30th anniversary collection, we were really able to put the controller through its paces. Why would anyone use these over the standard Split Pads? These seem like they’d be less comfortable.

I don't really have much need of them, have a Split Pad Pro and two and a half sets of Joycons (have an extra right one) with no one to really play with anyway, but that Pikachu and Mimikyu one is fairly tempting. Nintendo Switch grips come in all shapes and sizes. Some are designed exclusively for the regular Switch or Switch OLED, while others, like the stellar Satisfye ZenGrip Pro, are compatible with both models. Naturally, the significantly smaller Switch Lite requires its own separate grip, but there are great options for the handheld-only Switch, too. The Snap Grip is the smallest of the three and has a unique ridged design. The rounded Plus Grip is aimed at those who want some added bulk. Meanwhile, the Trigger Grip mimics the feel of a conventional controller, with a contoured design that probably suits most Switch users. Essentially, you're getting three different grips in one, so chances are at least one of them will be a great fit for you. If you regularly play your Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, the absolute best accessory you can buy is a detachable grip. Though the Switch is one of Nintendo's best gaming consoles ever, not everyone finds the default form factor very comfortable--especially when playing for hours in a row. Thankfully, there are third-party accessories that drastically improve the Nintendo Switch's ergonomics. We've rounded up a handful of the best Nintendo Switch grips available in 2023. RubyCarbuncle eevee is another one that it is extremely overrated and appears every where. The charmander line, the mews and gengar are other examples.

Comparing the controllers playing Hollow Knight (Trial of the Fool), it's just way easier on the Pros compared to the others. Some of that may be muscle memory, but trying to hold Y while hitting B with the base of my thumb was a lot more difficult. Olmectron Yeah exactly. should be a common addition by now on all switch 3rd party controllers. especially by a company like Hori. Since the grip has a power bank inside, it is heavier than the other grips on this list. The bulkiness that it adds works in its favor when it comes to ergonomics, though. The increased depth combined with rounded handles makes the Switch more comfortable to hold for longer play sessions. As the main draw here is extended playtime, that's certainly a good thing. If the Split Pad Pro looks too bulky for you but you're still interested in its features, the newer Split Pad Compact for Hori is an excellent choice. In addition to detachable grips that enhance your experience holding the Joy-Con controllers, there are accessories that completely replace the Joy-Cons while also functioning as ergonomic grips. Our favorite option in 2023 is still Hori's Split Pad, but now there are two different models: the Split Pad Pro and Split Pad Compact. From Gone Girl gaffer to Oscar winner: In conversation with David Fincher's cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt Plus, I overwhelmingly prefer tabletop mode when out and about (and the slightly larger screen of the OLED model makes a big difference), which is another deal-breaker. As with Satisfye's previous model, the ZenGrip Pro is extremely lightweight--it doesn't make the console feel any heavier (in fact, because it makes holding the Switch so much easier, it almost feels lighter). The bottom of the grip has two hooks for additional console support, and they also allow the Switch to stand securely upright on its own, with enough room for the charging cable to run underneath.

Honestly, I'm not too impressed with them. They are more comfortable in the hand than the Joy Cons, but still not very comfortable. Hands are still positioned with the thumbs too vertical instead of angled, which feels cramped. The ABXY buttons on the Compact have a little bit of a concave design rather than the convex buttons of the Pros, which creates a little sharp edge that irritates my thumb. Kind of like the old NES/SNES controllers I used as a kid. Also, my ring/pointer fingers on the right controller rest on another sharp edge which is irritating. The Pros are big enough that you can rest the whole Switch in the meat of your palms and then keep your fingers loose for playing, where the Compact like the Joy Cons I have to kind of squeeze my fingers to keep the Switch steady. Original Article (Fri 23rd Sep, 2022 02:55 BST): Accessory-maker Hori has revealed it's teaming up with The Pokémon Company to release Pokémon-themed Split Pad Fit.Through long gaming sessions, we made use of the more comfortable controls and ergonomics, however, we couldn’t shake the feeling that the controller could have used slightly higher quality materials, as it ends up feeling incredibly light. Should you buy it? Other big issue for me is the feel of the buttons. The ABXY buttons are too mushy and imprecise feeling. The Joy Cons are small but feel crisp and precise, and the Pros feel again like an Xbox controller with a crisp response and springy rebound. If these were proper fully-featured Joy-Con, I would absolutely leap at these, but as they are, it’s a hard pass. Rumble often makes such a tangible difference in games, especially as I have been mostly playing classic DOOM over the last couple of months, so much so that playing it on PC again without the tactility of rumble feels like a downgrade! (though both platforms have their pros and cons)
