About this deal

This year Storyland will develop five projects of up to 20 minutes duration. Up to five dramas, each with a budget of € 31,000, will then be commissioned. Amy Jeffs is an art historian specialising in the Middle Ages. In 2019, she gained a PhD in Art History from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, having studied for earlier degrees at the Courtauld Institute of Art and the University of Cambridge. She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. However, I was a bit disappointed really, the myths were not retold quite with the ‘new’ twist I was expecting and it reminded me that I don’t enjoy myths and short stories that much, there is no character development and often the men are violent and the women submissive. RTÉ and Northern Ireland Screen launch four brand new 20 minute dramas from Storyland 2017 on RTÉ Player. Currently in its seventh season, Storyland 2017 brings original stories to a global audience, showcasing a great breadth of Ireland’s creative talent across writing, acting, producing and directing. Soaked in mist and old magic, Storyland is a new illustrated mythology of Britain, set in its wildest landscapes.

[1] Heritage New Hampshire [ edit ] Storyland is an opportunity for producers, writers and directors to work in a safer, more innovative and daring space. Its remit is talent development, and we take everybody's experience into account when assessing the dramas. It is not essential that producers have made dramas before. We take into consideration the experience, passion and conviction of the team as a whole. Please note: Splash Battle, Pharoah's Reign & Dr. Geyser's Remarkable Raft Ride close after Labor Day. Construction is underway for our ALL-NEW MOO LAGOON play area for the 2024 season, the Turtle Twirl and Flying Fish are closed for the season starting 9/19/23 to keep construction moving. As Terry Pratchett said, “Imagination, not intelligence, made us human” and we as a species have been telling stories for thousands of years. And until the advent of paper, these were an oral tradition, told between individuals who passed them on in turn. The stories that have come to make our own mythology have in their own way defined who we are now to an extent. In those stories, you can find dragons, giants and other creatures that have not walked these lands in millennia.Promoting the region’s 18 major attractions including Story Land and over 300+ businesses as a top family destination for over 60 years. The stories are chronological. They are relatively short yet wonderfully atmospheric. I really enjoyed the explanation of the stories origins and the descriptions of the areas as they are now. These are retellings of medieval tales of legend, landscape and the yearning to belong, inhabited with characters now half-remembered: Brutus, Albina, Scota, Arthur and Bladud among them. Told with narrative flair, embellished in stunning artworks and glossed with a rich and erudite commentary. We visit beautiful, sacred places that include prehistoric monuments like Stonehenge and Wayland's Smithy, spanning the length of Britain from the archipelago of Orkney to as far south as Cornwall; mountains and lakes such as Snowdon and Loch Etive and rivers including the Ness, the Soar and the story-silted Thames in a vivid, beautiful tale of our land steeped in myth. It Illuminates a collective memory that still informs the identity and political ambition of these places. RTÉ and Northern Ireland Screen today announced that they are seeking submissions from writers and producers to develop new original online dramas for the next season of Storyland. The online drama series gives emerging Irish creative talent an opportunity to make original Irish stories available to a national and global audience on RTÉ Player. The purpose is to get a few sample scenes to indicate the writer’s voice and tone of the series. We ask that you submit a few scenes rather than the complete twenty-five-minute script. A maximum of three scenes. If possible, allow your scenes to help us understand the story in some way whether that be a set-up leaving us curious or by delivering scenes from the beginning, middle and end. Your scenes are a vital part of your pitch and allow us to gauge of your writer's ability to tell a story.
