samuelvictor I have read all your posts, and I found them very insightful and interesting to read! Thank you for sharing your knowledge of the industry. I wouldn't say that's a leak. All movies get released to physical media approximately 2-3 months after the box office release. Each have their pros and cons. But when I saw Avatar 1: Remastered in standard digital 3D, it was the exact same price as standard digital 2D. There is one 35mm cinema near where I used to live and one conveniently next to a train station, and it is much cheaper than digital cinemas. Plus the analogue film aesthetic is just gorgeous. But I lose that sweet 3D effect. And I want to keep both 3D and celluloid film alive. Sadly, shooting on 35mm film is increasingly rare nowadays, as its very expensive, no new 35mm cameras are being made by the major manufactureres that the Hollywood system use because its compatible with all their lenses and rigs. You know "Panavision"? well their last film model was made in 2004 (you can still rent them) and their current cameras are digital and actually based on rebranded RED 8k digital cameras (Panaflex DXL and DXL2 from 2018.) Similarly, ARRI only make digital cameras these days, and if you want to shoot with film you have to rent a "Impeccably maintained" vintage camera from their archives, and thats becoming harder and more expensive as they are degrading over time.

Even though i don't watch movies through DVD's anymore, this would be an awesome addition to any collection and the box art looks amazing too! As long as its a good quality scan, high quality render and DCP, thats the same image with all the same qualities and minor imperfections that make it look beautiful as if you were watching directly from the film itself, because they are editing the picture the analogue camera and film captured. Even a film as recent as 2007’s Evangelion:1.01 You Are (Not) Alone., had a filmout on the DVD release, but the remastered DVD/Blu-ray releases called Evangelion:1.11 You Are (Not) Alone. was a pure digital transfer. But it's not like I expected Nintendo and Illumination to pull a full Pixar with this, so I'm okay. The filmout process has also been used recently for some modern digital films for aesthetic purposes, such as Dune 2021 and The Batman. Conveniently got a 7.1.2 setup with Atmos sound on a 120" screen via projector, so if Universal/Illumination do a good transfer, should be good!👍 Hydra_Spectre Just re-read your previous post and saw that you mentioned Chris Nolan's movies, as "edited on film". He may do the assembly cut on film but I promise you its then digitised and finished off on computer - because all of his films have copious visual effects. The only reason I felt compelled to mention this is to name drop (hopefully in a way that is interesting) - I studied visual effects with Paul J Franklin, who was Visual Effects Supervisor of Inception, Interstellar, and the Dark Knight Trilogy. Working with Chris won him a couple of Oscars! projection is also great for the rare films edited on film, like Christopher Nolan’s films and Quentin Tarantino’s films.

theModestMouse And for me as a consumer, yes I gave most of my DVDs and Blu-Rays to charity before I moved country to save putting them into storage or transporting them over seas, but I've definitely got a small but carefully crafted collection of films I felt I just HAD to own, and I probably buy 5 or so a year, each of which has a story attached as to why I love it or why I want to own it forever. I appreciate it. Apparently some regard video games and movies as more than just entertainment, though. To each their own. With many official images of the Blu-ray being taken down following the leak, we don't have a visual to show you at the moment besides the above description. This being said, we will be keeping an eye out for the official word on the release following the film's premiere where hopefully we will get a slightly better idea of what special features the disk format will offer.

Hydra_Spectre Its a CGI animated movie that has never touched a frame of film in its life. If you want the 3D effect, watch it in digital 3D. Even if you settle on a cheaper 2D showing, there's no advantage in watching a film print of it as oposed to a decent DCP. Infact, a 4K DCP will give the exact result that the artists working on the film intended for you to see and were looking at as they made and edited the movie. gaga64 It is amazing to be honest. Getting rid of tonnes of unnecessary stuff felt like a real release. I have a small collection of games now but nothing too drastic. For me personally I still do. If it's a movie Franchise or show that I really love then I'll buy a blu ray copy of it.

I'm a little more interested in how the film was made than in what the voice actors think about the games, characters, and settings. Nice to see you mention some Don Bluth films. I studied with Don for 2 years and is one of my greatest mentors. I recently did an interview about my time with him for the Disney Hyperion Review podcast, if you are interestedHydra_Spectre TLDR (kinda! I type a lot): Only films shot on film, edited with true analogue processes, and then projected from reproductions of that film, will actually give a truly better experience when watching a 35mm projection. That only exists in a tiny number of indie and arthouse projects for modern films, though of course many arty cinemas will still show vintage reels of major filmd from teh pre-digital era. A high quality DCP projection of a modern movie that was shot on film but digitally edited will have a more accurate representation of the "analogue" picture the film recorded. For films both shot and edited digitally (ie 99% of Hollywood and indie output nowadays) there is no question, high quality DCP is better.

I'm just hoping they definitely make sure to release a 3D version of the movie. I'd really love to be able to watch this inside my VR headset on a giant private virtual cinema screen in full stereoscopic 3D. We buy DVD & Blu-Ray discs from time to time. Streaming is nice and convenient, but there are also those films that are rotated off the platforms from time to time, so having the disc available is handy. Days Later and The Celebration (Festen) were shot on PAL DigiBeta, and the original files were lost, so they had to use a filmout for the Blu-ray releases. 28 Days Later does have some 16mm and 35mm scenes so it makes sense too. Certainly they are. When the Meta AI finally corrupts win 12 and your streaming service is down we will be spinning our collection data and license free.

News Seth Rogen On Voicing Donkey Kong In The Mario Movie: "It's Gonna Sound Like Me And That's It" Will almost certainly nab this Steelbook once it releases (will also try to see the movie in theatres, especially since that's practically the only way to see a movie in 3D these days). The Mario Movie is still showing in cinemas, but in time there'll be a home release in the form of Blu-ray, DVD and 4K options. For something like CG animation that is entirely digital, watch it digitally, whether 2d or 3d. Its what the artists themselves were using to create the art. Or, if there is a little indie cinema near you that doesn't have a digital projector, feel free to support them and watch the analogue projection of a digital film - it will still look fine. But don't kid yourself that its somehow better, its not, its worse. Its only better for films shot AND edited on film.
