I was excited to play the narrator because I love all the Julia Donaldson books. I’ve read them to my children over the years and I love watching them at Christmas time when they’re on the telly. So I was thrilled that [Magic Light] asked me. Set up a worm playdough station for the kids to explore from Fantastic Fun and Learning. Frozen Dirt Square Dessert Then word of Superworm’s powers reaches the evil Wizard Lizard. He loves wearing his finest jewels and he’s so greedy he’s always searching for more. He realises Superworm could be a brilliant way to find buried treasure so he sends his henchman, the Crow, to kidnap Superworm. Superworm is a wonderfully unlikely comic hero. He’s a long, strong worm with amazing skills and a big heart who keeps on saving the day. But what happens when he gets too full of himself and starts to ignore his friends?

Try these fun and playful activities throughout the week to build and reinforce skills. Beginning Sounds Worm Based on the book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, Superworm starsPatricia Allison, Rob Brydon, Olivia Colman, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and Matt Smith. It's directed by Jac Hamman and Sarah Scrimgeour and produced by Martin Pope and Barney Goodland with animation services by Blue Zoo. Synopsis P is for Preschooler shares a fun way to paint using “wiggly worms”. I love that it is an open invitation to create. Dancing Worms Axel is brilliant at drawing bugs and had sneaked a lot of them into the pictures of our previous books together – so I decided to write a story all about them. Also, I thought it was time to create a real villain – Wizard Lizard is definitely not a loveable rogue, and Axel has made him look really frightening.Never fear Superworm is here - and he's wiggling to the rescue! He can be a lasso, a fishing-line, even a skipping-rope. An animated comedy for all the family about Superworm, a super-long and super-strong worm. Based on the picture book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. More This book is about a worm who loves to help his friends - who all help him in return when he gets captured by an evil lizard! This is the perfect project if you are looking for hands-on ideas to do with the kids that are connected to great books. The suggestions will fit perfectly with those who will also be participating in a local library reading program with the same theme. Today, it all about Superworm! On a warm summer day, cool off with this frozen dirt square dessert from This Silly Girl’s Life. It is a fun cooking activity to do with the kids.

Teaching Ideas and Resources:

A very simple but educational way to explore worms is to sit on the ground and observe. My boys found this worm crossing the sidewalk. They watched him as he “played” with the ant. The kids could even make a journal to record drawings and observations of the worms that they find. Wiggly Worm Painting Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler are the UK’s number one picture book pair and no story-time is complete without Julia’s perfect read-aloud rhyme and Axel’s unique artwork. Butterfly has seen the terrible situation Superworm is in, and she rouses the other garden creatures into action, hatching a plan to save their friend. She has been inspired by a recent (accidental) trip to the local rubbish dump and realises how they can all come together to defeat the Wizard Lizard. While he is asleep, they sneak into his lair in the middle of the night. Even though the Wizard wakes up, they manage to cover him with honey and leaves, and then bind him up in a large spiderweb, and carry him to the rubbish dump, where they drop him into the garbage.

The films are just lovely and they come out at the time of year when you can all be cosy and at home and watching something together.I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise. Mary and I would argue about which of us would marry him). The Magic Light animations are such an important part of the Christmas TV schedule, I’m so excited to be part of that tradition. Butterfly is a very determined character, and a loyal friend, and I’m looking forward to seeing her on BBC One on Christmas Day.” Cariad Lloyd (multiple voices) I studied Drama and French at Bristol University, where I met Malcolm, a guitar-playing medic to whom I’m now married.
