About this deal

The trans mentor had to get a certain amount of community service hours before she could graduate. She applied to be a trans mentor since she is trans herself and understand what its like. She was a mentor to a young trans boy. She played games with him and most importantly the boy caught her how to skate.

I entered Take The Mic because my music teacher introduced it to the class. I saw it as an opportunity to evolve my music career and a way to put myself out there. Tell us about your song? What was the inspiration? The song I sang In Take the Mic was a cover song by Aaradhna called Not the Same. This song has been one of my favourite songs for a long while now as I feel it helps me with my vocals and helps me improve on my voice What has been the best part of the Take the Mic experience so far? No one should have to live in a world where a small thing like being stopped for speeding becomes a life or death situation and the stuff of nightmares just because of the color of your skin, but unfortunately it’s the world we live in and I sometimes feel so hopeless. I don’t want to say much to spoil the story but the emotions it evokes are powerful and I think everyone should read it, but also be mindful of the content if you have ever been in such a situation before. Testing failed because your microphone captured only a single tone. Please make sure your microphone is not muted and try again. My favourite part so far was watching the vision of my music video coming to life. Meeting the people who were dancing to my song and the people behind the scenes made the whole experience wonderful and I couldn’t be more grateful! What drew you to music? Unfortunately, at this time you can only perform in one category. Either Contemporary, or Musical Theatre & Classical. The boy loved having a mentor. He felt as if someone understood him and wont judge him for who he is. However, a couple weeks later he found out that his mentor was only hanging out with him for community service hours not because she wants to. She never told him how much she enjoyed hanging out with him. He felt as if he was betrayed and lied to. His mentor ended up apologizing to him and they continued there friendship even after they graduated.

The best part of theTake the Mic experience so far would have to be both being on set filming and getting to meet these amazing people who have such awesome ideas and collaborating with them to bring our vision to life for my song, as well as getting to actually experience what it was like to be on set filming a music video. Another amazing part has definitely got to be watching all the episodes and seeing everyone else’s amazing talent and finished products!! What drew you to music? Make sure to read their interviews, watch their music videos and then to head to takethemic.co.nz, to vote. I wrote this song in September last year. This song is about feeling like somebody is losing interest, but you’ve already felt this way before. I wrote this song from a personal experience around liking someone and it not feeling reciprocated. The inspiration for this song was a person who was constantly on my mind. I find that when I have something troubling me the best way to get through it is writing it down in song. I felt inspired to write a song about how this person made me feel and that allowed me to interpret my true emotions. What has been the best part of the Take the Mic experience so far? Music has always been a huge part of my life. Mum and dad say I was singing basically once I learnt how to speak and I think this is partly due to my parents listening to all sorts of music around the house and I think that was what drew me into music from such a young age. Who’s your biggest musical inspiration? To dictate an uppercase letter, say “uppercase” before the letter. For example, “uppercase A” or “uppercase alpha.” When you’re done, say “stop spelling.” This week we are looking at two words which may be confused by learners of English: produce and product. Improve your English with Collins.
