On May 27th, 2023, the Uni was first officially teased through a series of videos showing a Tamagotchi UFO flying across major global landmarks, turning them into digital Tamagotchi-like versions with various characters floating in the air. Its success, according to Bandai, is because it appeals to the human nurturing instinct and offered children a sense of responsibility and obligation to keep their digital pet alive and well.
