About this deal

I had such high hopes for this book, and I'm left feeling dreadfully disappointed. This book was overhyped, and that I'm positive of. I really couldn't wait to get my hands on this. The plot sounded intriguing and I adored the cover. Lets be honest, it is quite something, and I was kind of lured in by it. This books has a lot of dark and disturbing scenes, and it will not be for everyone. There are some themes that will not be comfortable for a lot of people as well. I don’t want to say too much so as not to spoilt it, but be warned. Dice Rooms have a small marker indicating the effect that will be activated when the room is used. This was inspired by this Steam Workshop mod by Wofsauge. I love a good cat and mouse between a detective and a killer, and Nadine Matheson's thriller fits the bill. The chilling storyline, intense characters, vivid prose, and unflinching crime scenes make Matheson the heir apparent to Mo Hayder and Thomas Harris. Smashing!' J.T. Ellison, New York Times bestselling author The Serial Crimes Unit are called in to investigate when a local pastor is found stabbed to death. As DI Henley assesses the crime scene, she discovers a hidden door that conceals a room set up for torture – and bound to the bed in the middle of the room is the body of a man.

Many thanks to Hanover Square Press and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion. If you are a crime junky with a taste for the extreme, this is a must-read for you. The whole book is a trigger warning! If I rated this book by the parts of it, it would be a slow terribly paced two star for part one, a sweet blush of a three for the middle, and an awful one star for the final section. There is a HEA of sorts but.. yeah, I don't know. This was just a lot more depressing or maybe just.. stark? bleak?.. than I thought it would be.

Dad's Key, Get out of Jail Free Card, and Mr. ME! open Dice Rooms in one use, despite the fact that they require two keys. Totally hooked on this series , I now need the next book, please say there will be one, I cannot recommend this enough – 10 stars ’ NetGalley Reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐If a floor has two special rooms that require two keys to enter, the one closer to the start room will be a Vault, and the one further away from it will be a Dice Room. This book consists of three parts. The first part was slow, and it really, really dragged. The second was better, as I think it is the only part of the entire book that I liked and was tolerable, and the third part was another tedious drag, and I was itching to get to the end. The first novel in the Inspector Anjelica Henley series, THE JIGSAW MAN, was a superiour crime thriller and a serial killer novel that would make readers of Thomas Harris shiver. Now, her follow-up entitled THE BINDING ROOM is an even more complex story where two distinct and different themes are running through a murder mystery that turns into a potential serial murder case.
