About this deal

Each chapter is carefully set out to guide you, supported by the authors sharing lived experiences from themselves and their clients. This book is a must for all sports coaches and exercise professionals. It takes you on a journey to understand the female body and performance. How to work more effectively with girls and women, supporting them, creating coaching conversations, challenging your thinking and practice. We have thoroughly enjoyed working on this project (The Well HQ) and long may it continue. Professor Joanna Wakefield Scurr, University of Portsmouth Authors, Baz Moffat, Dr Emma Ross and Dr Bella Smith started writing this book in 2021, and has been a couple of years in the making, and they can hardly wait to share it with you! This isn't just a book, it's a movement - a call to action. Every woman deserves to know more about her body and everyone, regardless of their sex, needs to know more about women's bodies to remove the vestiges of secrecy and shame once and for all. This is the playbook for getting the most out of your body, offering strategies for you to find out what works best for you.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who wants to read this as I would highly recommend the whole thing without skipping anything! The webinar you ran for our colleagues must be one of the most, if not the most, well received event of its kind that we've had at Tate! In the follow-up survey we sent around to staff, the session received an average star rating of 4.7 out of 5. ' Fleur Kaminska: Learning & Development Coordinator, Tate Britain Worksheet: How to have productive conversations with female athletes about any aspect of women's healthThis book is wonderfully empowering, it has given me huge insight into how my body works and how I can help myself be stronger, fitter and healthier. My only wish is I could have had it as a teenager when I very sadly gave up competitive swimming because I didn’t like the way it made me look, and had no clue how immensely important it was to me both physically and mentally. I can’t wait to give it to my daughters, so they don’t make the same mistake. It all started when I began following The Well HQ…. Now The Female Body Bible has become something I use and speak about almost daily!

Body literacy is something every woman is entitled to. Health and fitness are not the same as aesthetics and photogenics. Instead of prioritising how a body looks we need to focus on how it feels and functions. How it works. When we listen to the body, embrace it and nurture it, health and fitness will follow. This book will help you create healthy habits that consider all aspects of female health at every life stage, including how to: The book is very anti-anything to control your periods and after a whole chapter trying to dissuade you from using any medicine says "do what's best for you" when the author is clearly very against that. Not really a positive message for young girl or anyone to be readingPDF / EPUB File Name: The_Female_Body_Bible_-_Emma_Ross.pdf, The_Female_Body_Bible_-_Emma_Ross.epub Having worked and coached in the fields of sport and fitness for over 25 years, I now have a 'go to' resource with all the current best practice and information in one place. Plus, it's easy to follow, lighthearted in places, highly readable and engaging. The book also seems to promote a bit of fear-mongering. There were several times in the book when the author made it sound like women HAD to do this thing immediately or our health would suffer e.g. ACL injury-preventing exercises without any explanation as to what these are. When I googled it I found lunges and squats were both excellent exercises for this and I don't know any active woman who doesn't do these moves! I just found it crazy how the author hadn't mentioned this or given any help as to how many to do etc and it just felt very insincere and like a scare tactic. Change the language used to talk to adolescent girls about their bodies, engage them in meaningful conversations and equip them with the confidence to advocate for themselves women's health and providing reliable, evidence based information. She is colleague, a friend and somebody whose information I would trust! Dr Rupy Aujla, MBBS, BSc, MRCGP, Founder of The Doctor’s Kitchen

Essential information for all females of any age. Based on scientific facts - this was important to me A comprehensive guide from a team of experts giving women of all ages the knowledge to understand our bodies throughout our lives to make us fitter, healthier, happier. The main message I got from this book is being a woman isn't enough and I'm doing everything wrong. It wasn't a positive book and instead gives women a list as long as their arm about everything they should change in their life as if being a woman isn't hard enough! It wasn't an easy "here are some ways to improve your health" like I thought it would be and felt way more like a toxic lecture.

This isn't just a book, it's a movement - a call to action. Every woman deserves to know more about her body and everyone, regardless of their sex, needs to know more about women's bodies to remove the vestiges of secrecy and shame once and for all. This is the playbook of all the elements that go into getting the most out of your body, and a selection of strategies that you can try to find out what works for you and your incredible body. It also goes on and on about all the good stuff periods do without adequately discussing how painful they are e.g. equal to being shot or conditions like endometriosis. It's kind of like a poster book saying "get periods they're great!" without any of the actual pains or serious side effects given adequate weight. Considering we don't see any of the stuff our body is doing I would've preferred a heftier mention of the struggles of them instead of skipping over them. Baz, Bella and Emma are my go-to experts and with The Female Body Bible, they can be yours too. Judy Murray, tennis coach There were things I have learnt from this book that I wish I knew from an early life. (Covers things like puberty, menstruation).
