If we could finally work out the science of medicine that treats human energy levels and the exact nature of the ‘energy’ that was being treated, the possibilities for improved health were unimaginable.”3 n. A man came almost daily to sit on a bench under a birch tree amongst the graves and during these visits he heard the dead talking They told of moments that shaped their lives or the moment it ended. I’d like to think there’s a point. This book made me think of a special person. It’s been nearly a year since my beloved uncle passed away. He had lived a long life, but left us rather abruptly just the same. He lived the life he wanted to, even though others in the family sometimes frowned, passing judgments as family is wont to do. But he was a happy man, and I believe he left with few regrets. I suppose we all have something that we keep hidden deep inside. He was the most encouraging of “cheerleaders”, always supporting both me and my sister in whatever we wanted to do in life. Last New Year’s Day, shortly before he died, he called me. Despite all the madness in our country and the world at the time, he had hope. “Candi, I just know things are going to get better for you and for us all. I can feel it in my bones.” He was a man who died alone in a nursing facility in another state and still found the heart to share that desire with optimism. I’m going to go visit him this week in the field where he was laid to rest and say, “Thank you, Uncle Carl... for everything.” The plot of John B. Keane's The Field is fascinating, but it's more as a study of a small Irish town and the people living in it that this piece resonates. One of the best books I have ever read. It took a long time to read and it will take a long time to write a review...so stand bye.

Today, in addition to its strong online presence, The Field remains in print as a glossy with a monthly circulation of 28,294 (as of 2013) and is still considered one of the leading country and field magazines in the world. Keane he writes beautifully but not with so much effort, it is mostly very close to reality and since it is a play it has to be real life (could be at least) conversations. But I did very much enjoy this short play. It took me but a day to finish.

The Field is led by a team of men and women whose aim is to provide everything necessary for an enjoyable camping holiday. There are simple guidelines for time on The Field: The Bull McCabe has rented Maggie Butler's field for five years and turned it into a fine area of land through the sweat of his brow. When Mrs Butler decides to sell the field to the highest bidder, McCabe throws his weight around to ensure that noone bids against him. Another thing that really bothered me, but might perhaps not be so offensive to others, is McTaggart’s dismissal and inaccurate portrayal of the theory of natural selection. She incorrectly assumes much in her prologue, and even goes so far as to say that both Darwinism and the Newtonian paradigm have completely depleted our self-image and world views, because all we’re doing here is ‘survival of the fittest’, and treating ourselves and those around us as machines. Well, excuse me, but natural selection is not at all completely about ‘survival of the fittest’, and it certainly doesn’t rule out human emotions, empathy, and altruism (i.e. the theory of natural selection doesn’t invalidate my life and/or emotions because I’m simply a ‘gene machine’, for example). The idea behind this novel is original as it is not meant be be a horror or a ghost story. In fact, the reader does not feel as if they are reading tales told by the deceased, and this is what makes The Field an unusual read. The voices sound like those of the living, and some observations they make about their passing away could not be said more naturally. te: Wahrnehmung vollzog sich auf einer sehr viel fundamentaleren Ebene der Materie – in der tiefen Welt der Quantenpartikel. The author pulls together research done over the past 40-50 years showing that all discoveries together point towards a common direction:

I always try not to write anything bad about any book unless I have to (when I say "I have to" I mean on those really really pointless books), but I didn't find anything in this book. The Field is the sixth novel by the Austrian author and actor Robert Seethaler. He resides in Berlin and Vienna. l got introduced to this beautiful book by Pedro's glowing review: I understand that she is a journalist and she is supposed to form an opinion. However, making her opinion sounding like scientific truth is bad journalism (of course, this is my opinion :))

Ko

Accommodation One of the most powerful and enlightening books I have ever read. A magnificent job of presenting the hard evidence for what spiritual masters have been telling us for centuries.” — Wayne W. Dyer I’ve got to admit, I’ve always had a hard time balancing spirituality and science. The two just seem to clash so much, in my mind. But after reading this one, I feel like I’m able to make much better sense of (and remedy) that conflict.I like to think that I am a proper gardener, by which I mean that cataracts and hurricanoes have to spout until they drench our steeple (we live next door… Freeman’s narrative is especially strong in describing the final years before the Civil War. In the final pre-war Congresses violence grew more common, and members increasingly came armed. Southerners frequently threatened to seize the chamber by armed force. ‘Many congressmen strapped on knives and guns each morning as they headed off to Congress, and their number was growing; Northerners had been urging their representatives to arm since [Sen. Charles] Sumner’s caning [in 1856]’ (249).
