About this deal

Yes, he and Will carried out the prank that caused Darcey/Loner’s death. So maybe they both got what they deserved. But many of us (including me) felt a little sorry for Johnno. Where is Darcey/Loner’s body, anyway? At some point, The Guest List by Lucy Foley (trust me, this is for your own good) went from a thriller mystery. Sorry. No. The Guest List was never that. I don’t care what the summary of The Guest List leads you to believe . See why I provided the summary? Because I KNEW my review would say HELL NO IT ISN’T.It is a chic-lit drama, fiction literary, melodrama with a murder in the middle of it. But I digress. Thank you for your review. I just finished this piece of trash for a book club and I am an avid Agatha Christie fan… it is insulting and a tease that they actually wrote on the cover that this book “evokes Agatha Christie”. Totally FALSE! It was awful and I only kept reading it to be able to discuss it’s awfulness at this book club. Weird things are afoot. This is a two-year old review that suddenly disappeared today under the hardcover edition I reviewed it as and was replaced by a Kindle edition that I never added that basically zeroed out all the votes and comments. Anyways, reposting the original review under the correct edition!

I like you. I’m sorry you had to deal with such an insufferable piece of crap during your book club. I don’t know why people have to keep going with such trite, bull when there are such amazing Psychological Thrillers on the market. This is fast-paced and easy to read. I figured out the murderer early on, but I didn’t know who had been murdered or why. There are a lot of red herrings thrown in to make one question their arm-chair detective skills. Some elements of the plot came together with a little too easily--it just so happened that one person in attendance had a link to another in a way that was just way too convenient. However, this connection did add another potential candidate as the murderer. What else could you ask for? This one has the atmospheric vibes that mystery lovers crave and I enjoyed every minute reading it! My first by this author. I loved and adored the setting and various atmospheric elements. The characters felt well fleshed out and the plot was intriguing throughout. I definitely recommend it!! Everyone had something to hide. Everyone had an axe to grind and I was there for every cat-clawing minute of it.

This is just one of many times. Not to mention the numerous commentaries by all the other points of view on how they sound and how it makes them feel. One night, the bride is afraid she won't sleep a wink. Is it the upcoming wedding or something else?

Thank you to William Morrow and Edelweiss for an ARC of The Guest List by Lucy Foley in exchange for an honest review Edit - Congrats, Lucy Foley, for winning the goodreads choice award for the best mystery and thriller in 2020 for this book. After the wedding is over and the party is underway, the lights go out. Then someone screams. There’s a body outside. a b Weiss, Keely (2 July 2020). Sorry friends who loved and praised this one! It was a perfectly fine book, and it has all the right ingredients for a good murder mystery whodunnit - creepy and claustrophobic atmosphere, multiple suspects with motive to kill, loads of secrets threatening to be revealed, and five intriguing narrators to move the story along, all wrapped up in a big festive occasion. I raise my eyebrow at him, cross my arms. I am past master at the raised eyebrow game- I use it at work to fantastic effect. I dare him to say another word."
