About this deal

We offer good value, friendly and comfortable accommodation and arejust a stones throw away from Torquay's award winning beaches, sparkling blue sea and all thatthe English Rivieraand surrounding area has to offer. The last leg of your week on the French Riviera takes you further west to the pretty fishing village of Cassis, near the ancient port city of Marseille. While the latter is, oddly enough, not generally considered part of the Riviera, feel free to eke out some time to explore it, if you so choose-- or add an extra day to your itinerary if you can. Ariana is a bit jaded by her LA lifestyle and is trying to escape a scandal, so heads off to explore her inheritance. This would be a great read for a holiday, with its descriptions of the French Riviera and the Hollywood glamour epitomised by the Chappells. Carol, however, also lets us see that a life lived in the spotlight isn't as glamorous in reality.

The long standing success of the Hotel Riviera is due to our striving for impeccable standards in both accommodation and service. Our policy of continual improvement has resulted not only in rooms and facilities of the highest quality but also in a genuine sense of welcome from a loyal and long-serving staff who have a well deserved reputation for friendliness and excellent service. The hotel has a total of 99 soundproofed rooms, including Standard Double with balcony and Double King Size Exterior without balcony rooms. Guests staying here will find the rooms are equipped with a TV, direct dial telephone, mini fridge and a safety deposit box (local charge). Only Standard Double Rooms have a balcony. Double King Size Rooms are light and airy, with a window that overlooks the entrance to the hotel. The spacious bathroom also has a shower that features a hydro massage column. Food & Drink Hotelier Gabriel du Lac’s family have owned the hotel for decades – and he has no intention of giving it up for a beautiful stranger. If you are looking for a summer read full of glitz, glamour, stunning locations, family secrets and romance, then look no further than The Hotel on the Riviera.

Have lunch down by the harbor or the beach, taking in the views over the water and the many boats bobbing in the Marina. If you’re looking for the perfect summer holiday read, then you can’t go far wrong with ‘The Hotel On The Riviera’ Carol Kirkwood. In the afternoon, consider hopping on a ferry to the nearby Port-Cros National Park and the "Golden Islands" offshore from Hyères (including the Porquerolles Islands). Clear waters, pristine sandy beaches, lush greenery, and abundant species of birds and fish await in the national park. Hiking, snorkeling, deep-sea diving, and swimming off of intimate, protected beaches are all possibilities, but make sure you come equipped for whichever activities you choose.

Day five brings you to another of the Riviera's most-famous waterfronts, and the sandy, wide beaches of St-Tropez. Long associated with sunbathing and tanning, it's still a prized destination by travelers even though many will now sit under umbrellas and slather on plenty of sunscreen.

The formerly quiet fishing village became a popular destination for tourists after French film star Brigitte Bardot starred in a 1956 movie shot in the town, "And God Created Woman." Since then, it's been a favorite among visitors looking for a slice of iconic Riviera style. Yet there's more to the town than the sunscreen bottles and movies suggest—it's rich in history, culture, and quiet beauty, especially during off-season. I'll admit that there is one reason and one reason only that I bought this book, because this is not really my genre: I had a huge crush on Carol Kirkwood as a teenager. When I was getting ready for school in the mornings, my mum would have the news on the television so she'd be presenting the weather, obviously. It was always particularly great if Carol was out and about somewhere and found a cute animal or something. She's so sweet and so pretty <3 Next, spend a bit of time exploring the town itself, with its quiet streets and alleys, Provencal-style squares lined with warmly hued facades, and traditional shops. Just to the west of Sidmouth lies the Raleigh Country. Sir Walter was born at Hayes Barton, in a beautiful Tudor building which is now a farmhouse.

Whereas Gabriel and his family has been running it for over two decades and wants to take it over however he is trying to figure out why it wasn’t left to his own family. Our restaurant caters for those who love traditional cuisine. Our Chefs will carve for you either a delicious home cooked joint or you can choose from our market day special or our vegetarian option. You can then help yourself to a variety of freshly cooked vegetables andpotatoes. To follow, there is a mouthwatering choice of hot and cold desserts on offer. Head up to the Place des Lices for lunch, the traditional central square where Provencal-style buildings glow in the sun, and pétanque players throw metallic balls down sandy pitches while sipping pastis liqueur . On market days, this is one of the best spots for observing local life. If time allows, visit the St-Tropez Citadel, a 16th-century fortress that attests to the town's historical role as a defensive spot along the coast. The Maritime museum in the former dungeon is also worth visiting. Sometimes it’s nice to get away for the festive period and spend Christmas and New Year with family and friends by the sea! Whether you’re looking for a cosy cottage for two or a large house, you’ll find there’s a great choice of award winning accommodation in The English Riviera. And there are lots of festive things to see and do when you get here too. Christmas and New Year events and attractions on the English RivieraSouth of Sidmouth is Budleigh Salterton, whose sea wall is the setting of Sir John Milais’s’ famous painting ‘The Boyhood of Raleigh’ Like I said, this isn't really my "thing". It's one of those beach reads that feels very lush and velvety and the characters are in these luxurious settings. But even so, I enjoyed it, and not just because I'm a massive simp. The writing flows well, and, although I was kind of meh on the main romance plotline (I just thought Gabriel was a bit of a twat, honestly, although I thought the conflict/attraction dynamic between him and Ariana was written well), I loved Elise's storyline and her budding romance with the chef. The intrigue aspects are what kept me reading: the breadcrumbs are scattered throughout and integrate the plotlines together really well. There are also sub plots with Robert and Elizabeth – two A list celebrities, whose marriage is rapidly disintegrating, and Elise, hoping to gain a worthwhile job so she can provide for her daughter. Madame du Lac has watched the rich and famous pass through the doors of the hotel for almost half a century, and she has kept its secrets too.
