In the original 1950 film, the leading character of George Bird was played by Alec Guinness. Screenwriters Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman (of Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Doc Hollywood fame) updated the story for John Candy, with Carl Reiner directing, [2] but the project was shelved after the actor's death in 1994. Years later, Queen Latifah's agent read their script and suggested they revise it for her. This is the second book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Beach Party' which I would also highly recommend. Loved this book. Didn’t guess the ending!… Really well written from different POV’s which weave together to tell the story.’ Goodreads reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my first book by this author, but I will certainly read her other books. I recommend this story, especially to those who like discovering family secrets from years ago and complicated family relations. The author effectively created an atmosphere of unease and suspicion. Like Kate and Fran, we wonder who the participants of the camp really are and what their intentions are. There are some interesting twists and turns, not only at the end of the book. The ending surprised me only to some extent, but it's more a matter of having read so many stories in this genre than anything else. I wasn't surprised by what happened to Jenna, but I didn't predict which people were involved and what their motives were. It was an interesting experience. I had a little bit of a hard time following this at first but once I got the hang of it the flow was better. There’s just so many perspectives and it flips between past and present a lot. Plus, there are a couple different issues that come to light. The biggest twist right at the end, truly didn’t see it coming.

The story centres around a group of college friends who when in their 30's, all decide to take a camping trip to Cornwall to celebrate Rose, daughter of Annie and god daughter to Stella and Charlotte, 18th birthday. Love was not an active verb in my family or in my life. There were few And we have our third narrator, Kate. Kate is the organiser, business partner and the drive behind the retreats. She has held everything together and pushed on after the murder accusations ruined them financially. Upon its release in New York City in November 1950, Bosley Crowther called it an "amusing and poignant little picture" that is "simple and modest in structure but delightfully rich in character." [5] I like the concept and I didn't expect the big reveal, but it felt unrealistic. Also, it wasn't as enthralling or thrilling as I had hoped.

Her Last Holiday: the next addictive crime thriller from the

With the number of characters came the multiple story lines that we were following. Each couple had their own story and we hear about their personal relationships and the group relationship over the different timelines and from different pov's which was brilliant as we got an insight into each person's mind during the same event. Loved this book. Didn’t guess the ending!... Really well written from different POV’s which weave together to tell the story.’ Goodreads reviewer, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The detailed description of the mutilated bird on the patio and the ensuing throwing of stones at a passing cat was awful.

I have a couple of C. L. Taylor's books on my TBR and I'm still gonna read them. This one just wasn't for me. Fran is desperate to uncover the truth and books herself onto the retreat under a pseudonym so that she can come face to face with Tom Wade and find out what really happened to her sister. There is a lot of emotion surrounding the events of two years ago and a desire for the truth to remain hidden.Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own. There are heart-rendingly honest revelations for psychologists to pore over: "Love was not an active verb in my family or in my life. There were few demonstrations, few hugs and embraces, and few declarations among us about love. I was a full-grown adult who had been married, a father, and divorced before I consciously put 'I love you' into conversations with my mother."

Georgia impresses the hotel's staff, with the exception of the cantankerous guest services manager Ms. Gunther, with her naive manner and forthright kindness. She also mingles with some of the other guests, including Matthew Kragen, an arrogant self-help guru and the owner of the department store where she worked; Kragen's assistant/mistress Ms. Burns; and Louisiana power brokers Senator Dillings and Congressman Stewart. Kragen is wary of Georgia and suspects her of trying to sabotage his business, but the rest are charmed by her free spirit. This is the first book I've read by this author and oh my gosh!!
