Using tunnels (wormholes) to travel interstellar distances is mentioned as an alternative to "FTL", which is possible but illegal due to the time travel implications. They sometimes extend this to aliens as well, with a drunken Exodan yelling at Gluh'loloan that she has nothing to teach them.
