About this deal

Todo ello en un supuesto paisaje idílico en el que se nos van desvelando extraños hechos y desapariciones. When Nora moves into the only house nearby, Suzi is delighted to have a friend. So much so that she’s almost tempted to tell Nora her terrible secret. But there’s more to Nora than meets the eye. It’s impossible—does she already know what Suzi did?

The Other Half: You know how they live. This is how they die. The Other Half: You know how they live. This is how they die.

Where it could’ve been better is just tightening things up a bit - especially at the end which seemed to drag on far longer than it needed to with no major payoff for doing so. Some have mentioned pacing, which I agree could have moved along more briskly, but then again, when I reframe it in the light of an old movie, it kinda works as is to build tension, so my jury is out on that. Overall, it was a great introduction for me to Candlish’s writing and definitely makes me want to read her other books. Scott Shane's outstanding work Flee North tells the little-known tale of an unlikely partnership ... You protest. You and Kit are friends ?— ask Melia, she’ll vouch for you. And who exactly is this other passenger pointing the finger? What do they know about your private lives? No, whatever coincidences might have occurred that night, you are innocent, totally innocent.

Success!

After The Other, Chris and Martin Udvarnoky did some stage work with Uta Hagen, and they both tried out for the lead role in 1973's Tom Sawyer, but neither one of them got the part. Ultimately, they both decided not to pursue careers acting in movies, partially because they were disturbed by the attention which they received from fans when The Other premiered, and also because they preferred to resume normal childhoods. [15] I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler-free way. Unfortunately, there is still always a risk of slight spoilers despite my best efforts. If you feel something in my review is a spoiler please let me know. Thank you. Melia is a beautiful woman used to getting what she wants. Apparently at this time, it’s Jaime. Though it’s hard to see the attraction to a man many years her senior, she is under the impression that he is wealthy because of where he lives. This was an excellent, emotionally fraught domestic suspense in the vein of The Wife Between Us--fans of that book will like this one, I think. It has a variety of women scorned and battered by controlling, dubious men, with lots of sordid, soapy details and a satisfying, unsettling ending. I was guessing the whole time as to how the messy interpersonal details would play out--and that's how I would describe this. Things get MESSY, in the most delightful way. NYRB Classics presents the landmark psychological horror novel about 13-year-old twins living in a bucolic New England town—one good and the other very, very evil.

Entranced and terrified, the reader of The Other is swept up in the life of a Connecticut country town in the thirties—and in the fearful mysteries that slowly darken and overwhelm it. By the halfway point, it SEEMED like I knew where this was leading and I was reading to se

I live in a South London neighbourhood not unlike the one in my novels with my husband, teenage daughter, and our fox-red Labrador Bertie. Kit is always arriving just as the boat pulls out-secure in the knowledge that his favorite seat will be waiting for him, secured by Jamie, who is always early. Jamie, (approaching 50) is living an affluent lifestyle with his partner of 10 years- Clare, and Kit (early 20’s and very much in debt) are an unlikely pair-introduced by their wives, who work together in real estate. The book had a good plot and several twists to it. I just really didn't connect with the characters.
