Description

In the evening, nursing will occur for the young. They are self-supportive at three to four weeks of age. It’s an interesting story how the fate brings you to unexpected adventures. Not the one you ever wanted or thought of. The geographic range is so large that snowshoe hares in different regions may have completely different diets, depending totally on the local forest type. Overall, The Snow Hare is the most beautiful story of resilience, love, and triumphing over despair. It has a tone and style that suits the snow on the cover and in title. I don’t know how to put my finger on just what it is, but it connected me to the story even more. On top of that, I absolutely loved Lena and her complexity. She runs with Ivan Pavlov bouncing beside her, deviating now and then to crash through bulrushes after a whiff of vole. She runs with Ala’s hot hand yanking her along the path on the banks of the glistening San.

Mills, L. et al. Camouflage mismatch in seasonal coat color due to decreased snow duration. Proc. Natl Acad. Sci. USA 110, 7360–7365 (2013). Snowshoe hares are active year-round. The breeding season for hares is stimulated by new vegetation and varies with latitude, location, and yearly events (such as weather conditions and phase of snowshoe hare population cycle). [7] [16] Breeding generally begins in late December to January and lasts until July or August . [15] [16] In northwestern Oregon, male peak breeding activity (as determined by testes weight) occurs in May and is at the minimum in November. In Ontario, the peak is in May and in Newfoundland, the peak is in June. Female estrus begins in March in Newfoundland, Alberta, and Maine, and in early April in Michigan and Colorado. First litters of the year are born from mid-April to May. [7] Snowshoe hares are most active in twilight and at night, but are active year-round. This hare is seen as breeding season begins, in late April in Alaska. I’m sorry, Mama, but it happens to be true. Papa, listen, you know Mama’s like this—she gets what she wants every time. But you have to promise me tonight, here and now—’This book is somewhat more into a story instead of giving some historical facts. It only provide me a plot and characters. the historical events nor political stuffs did not exist here. it was quite shallow on exposing historical stuff. Even the story wasn't really giving a depth. i love the MC, she is indeed a strong & independant woman who never fear to take a leap for the one that she loved. I also like the love story created here but it wasn't really memorable. The snowshoe hare is also known as the varying hare because their colors differ depending on the season. While overall I did enjoy the book, there were parts that dragged for me at the start especially. I enjoyed the tension the author built around the birth of Lena’s daughter but I don’t want to give any spoilers. This is historical fiction at its absolute best--epic in scope and intimate in detail. Paula Lichtarowicz reminds us that even in the most brutal of circumstances, hope, love, and forgiveness sustain us.” Sit, Pav. Be a good boy. Look at the skin, Pav, good boy. Concentrate on the lovely smell of boiled rabbit.’
