The beloved World’s Worst series has captivated millions of readers. You’ve met the world’s worst children, the world’s worst parents, the world’s worst teachers, and the world’s worst pets – but are you ready for the world’s worst monsters? For kids who would normally look at you as if you’re mad to suggest reading for pleasure” - Independent Wallaims successfully revamps gothic literature icons and urban legends as inspiration for stories for a younger audience. However, most of the stories are a bit misleading with most monster’s being friendly. It would have been interesting to see more stories with suspenseful scenes or unhappy endings, considering the horror theme.

I honestly don’t have a bad word to say about this book. I have already read it twice and I can easily see myself reading it again and again in the future. After this fantastic installment to ‘The World’s Worst’ series, I can’t wait to see what David Walliams comes up with next.A loyal son’s struggles to hide the secret about his mother’s ghoulish behaviour. Each of the book’s ten short stories is a (gently) spooky and fast-paced standalone tale, which breaks the book into manageable chunks that kids can dip in and out of. My personal favourite was The Curious Case of Miss Gorgon; what kid wouldn’t be instantly enthralled by an opening line like ‘The headmaster had been turned into stone!’?

If you don’t like ghosts, ogres, zombies, vampires, aliens, werewolves, or mummies, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.’ But as parent/librarian, I'm now getting annoyed at the deterioration in quality of Walliams' writing to the extent that I'm struggling to even read them aloud to my 6-year-old. Dare you enter the world of monsters? With ten terrifying tales of marvellous monsters such as Lord PHANTOM waking up after five hundred years to discover that his home has been turned into a theme park or Amber who is convinced her parents and little brother are VAMPIRES! This is perfectly ghoulish for any David Walliams fan! If you don’t like ghosts, ogres, zombies, vampires, aliens, werewolves or mummies, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. This really is Walliams at his most silly - the perfect combination for thousands of his loyal fans” - Daily Mail

Walliams said: “This was a blast to write and so I hope it is a blast to read. My son gave me the idea for the book as he loves monsters even more than I do.”
