Description

If the modem isn't connecting to the internet, then I would say that is the first thing to sort out, then worry about connecting the router to it afterwards. With the Vigor 130 modem now configured to bridge VDSL to Ethernet with no VLAN tag added by the modem, the router can be configured to use this. Personally I don't think you can get a more reliable modem at the moment on the market than the Vigor 130 in my opinion. I'm not too bothered by the Vigor 130 having a 100Mbs interface, as the fastest my FTTC runs is 73Mbps, but I did connect the Billions to my pfSense router using the 1Gbps interfaces (just because it was there).

DrayTek Vigor 130 VDSL and ADSL2+ Ethernet Modem/Bridge

Provides Annex A modem code 572d07 & 570e01, and Annex B modem code 565607 & 567002.Recommended for Netherlands. (G.Vectoring) 3.9.8.4-07v Far End - The remote end, which is the cabinet or exchange's hardware. This is the Upstream information. If you use DrayTek's ACS-SI management platform, you can use that to roll out the new firmware to all products en-masse.You didn't answer the previous question though. Is the modem properly connected to the internet? The admin interface on your modem may be different to my router, but if it's similar you could try going to "diagnostics" and then "DSL stats", and also "online status" then "Physical connection" to see the connection status. thanks for the message. My FFTC speed is only around the same as yours, so the 100Mbs on the 130 is still ok, however me being me I like to keep with the latest versions. And you never know PlusNet might increase those speeds one day! Virgin have a 1Gb option with their cable services in my town at the moment, however they are just so unreliable its not worth the risk at the moment.

Setting up Internet access via a Vigor 130 modem is a straightforward process so hopefully everything should go smoothly. However, below are a few tips that cover some possibilities: To show more detailed line statistics, enter "vdsl status more" (or "adsl status more" for an ADSL line) In this scenario, the connected router establishes the Internet connection over its Ethernet WAN port, adding the VLAN tag on its Ethernet port. In this example, the WAN2 interface has successfully connected to the Internet, which indicates that the VLAN tag on the Ethernet WAN port is being passed through correctly. On the router, go to [WAN] > [General Setup] and select the WAN interface that the Vigor 130 modem is connected to. In this example, WAN2 is used on a Vigor 2866 router:LSYMB This parameter reports the actual number of bits per symbol assigned to the latency path in which the bearer channel is transported. This value does not include trellis overhead. It ranges from 0 to 65535. Maximum possible value is 3825 in case of ADSL2 and 7665 in case of ADSL2+. I have achieved comparable speeds and stability from using Billion 8800NL and 8800NL/R2 routers configured in modem only bridge mode (and wireless disabled). I currently have these configured and ready to go, as standby modems if my Vigor 130 was ever to fail. DrayTek offer a large range of G.fast, VDSL and ADSL modem equipped router models, as well as the dedicated Vigor 130 and Vigor 166 modems.
