Befores, afters, mood boards, plans, failures, wins. We’ve done a lot of projects, and they’re all here. Learn how to easily grey wash wood! This weathered gray stain finish works great for how to make wood look old and gray ! With this transparent-like wood stain, the Weathered Oak stain gave it a slight depth while allowing the natural beauty of the wood to show through. Projects with Oak Wood:

Use a cloth or brush so you have more control over where the product goes. You don’t want to make any mistakes!

It also deserves mentioning that the undertones and tints will vary across all different types of wood, so keep this in mind as you are planning your project. What are the undertones of Weathered Oak wood stain? Today, I’m sharing this lightly colored wood stain with you that I love – Minwax Weathered Oak. It’s simple, easy to use, and goes so well with many paint colors. They’re gorgeous. I would have loved to see the other stain option with the fabrics to see how it was pulling red. Crazy how much colors can change in different contexts. Although I really liked the Provincial stain color…I wasn’t sure I loved it against the existing color of our hardwood floors.

In any of these cases, the most important this is to cover every inch of the wood surface with an even coat of the wood stain. Red oak floors have beautiful wood grain and are quite durable, but it can also present a challenge for homeowners due to their natural red hues. Selecting the right stain color is crucial to achieve a beautiful and neutral flooring aesthetic. As flooring takes up a significant surface area in any room, it plays a key role in the overall design of your home. Last week on the blog, I shared a rustic DIY desk that Brandon built and finished. The photos I took didn’t quite show off the gray wash stain finish like I wanted, so I am sharing some close up photos today of the finish as well as how we created a weathered wood gray finish. The most popular way to make wood look grey weathered is by using a dark grey stain. You can also use a medium or even light shade, depending on whether you want a more subtle look or a bolder one. We did several tests with the oil-based Weathered Oak, and brown, yellow, and gray undertones were prevalent with each type of wood.

Thanks for the video. I love the desk design and finish. Just the style I was looking for that will work for my daughters room. Small desks are a hot commodity these days unfortunately. I hope you can answer this question. Where did you source the chair paired with the desk in the photo. I often find myself liking unrelated things in posts and drive myself crazy trying to find them. I recently build a tufted bench and used this same method on the legs and the result is just as fantastic-looking. I’ll be sharing the bench hopefully next week! 🙂 Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe away the excess stain. Wipe in one direction to ensure that you get an even coat! Now is the time to lighten that color a bit to give it that beige oak magic. For this purpose, we used the White Wash layering color from Minwax. It is a water-based formula, so do not let it sit on for too long before wiping the excess.

In this section, I will focus on light to medium tone stains, as they are popular in modern homes, easy to match with furniture, and hide dirt well, making them versatile choices. Additionally, I will discuss oil-based finishes, which are known for their durability and widespread availability. Once you identify your preferred shade, you can replicate it on your project. Step 4: Prime the pinewood Love the floors! I’m in the process of deciding on new floors right now. What size planks are your new floors? I love white oak!!!
