In this section, we’ll show you how to replace a racquet’s overgrip with step-by-step instructions. Once you get the hang of wrapping an overgrip, it should only take you one to three minutes from start to finish. Using Wilson’s hand elixir of life, I have maintained pristine hands throughout my career, and to prove it, here is a picture of my left hand! Unravel your new overgrip, and if it has one, peel off the layer of plastic protecting the grip’s surface. Step 3 As far as injuries go, a blister might not sound serious. However, multiple blisters or one on the wrong part of your hand can be incredibly painful and, in the worst scenario, cause you to adjust your swing, which can lead to elbow and shoulder injuries. Small Mental Boost It’s got everything a grip should have and more, and it must be the best product in tennis in my opinion.

There’s no shortage of overgrips on the market, but the one that you use will depend on your specific needs and preferences. I’m not someone who craves a super thin grip. In fact, I find the original Wilson Overgrip to be ideal. Again, the Wilson Pro Overgrip Sensation compares favorably with the Kirschbaum. At 0.4mm, the Sensation is about as close as you can get to the handle, and for some people, this is great news. To some people, this will be exactly what they are looking for, but I still don’t think you can class it as comfort. After a while, the grip started to roll up and wear at the bottom and this is not something I experience with my original Wilson Pro Overgrips.Regularly swapping out your overgrip is a great way to minimize the slippery effect of sweat on your hands, but sometimes it’s not enough.

Wilson Pro Overgrip Review - The Tennis Bros Wilson Pro Overgrip Review - The Tennis Bros

The grip of choice for many pros on Tour, Pro Overgrip delivers a variety of benefits that sets it apart from the competition. Its super thin, high-stretch felt provides superb feel for an extended period of time. The standard for overgrips in today's game, Pro Overgrip is preferred by players of all ages and abilities for its value, comfort and durability. Such a simple thing, but nobody else seems to get close to Wilson on this one. (Editor’s Note: True.) If you’re the latter, rest assured, we know that the Wilson Pro Over Grip is the only grip out there, and if you’re the former, congratulations, you just found your new overgrip! I think the thinness has meant the material is not as strong, and this will mean you are changing your grips more often than you were. When using more than one overgrip, keep in mind that the racquet’s bevels or eight sides are part of what helps you maintain solid traction and prevents the racquet from twisting in your hand. If you’re using an extended length racquet that features a longer handle, be sure to grab the Tourna Grip XL for the fit. When you take 25% of the material away, it was bound to affect the comfort, but that’s just the tradeoff you’ve got to pay if you want a thin grip. Indeed, if you use Tourna grips you can probably use your hands as sandpaper by now, but fear not, Wilson has the perfect antidote with the Wilson Pro Over Grip. As you apply additional overgrips, the handle will become rounder and lose its edges, which can make it difficult to hit without the racquet twisting. With this in mind, we recommend you apply no more than two overgrips to your racquet’s handle.

It may detract from the comfort a little bit, but Wilson has certainly done a good job of making this grip thin. When the grip of your racquet becomes worn, it becomes harder to maintain a solid hold of your racquet without your hand slipping. Adding an overgrip, otherwise referred to as grip tape, is an inexpensive way to make sure you always have a firm and consistent grasp. If you’re struggling to maintain a grip on your racquet, then you might want to consider a grip that features a raised mid-section to help provide you with more traction. Our favorite is the Gamma Supreme Power grip, which features a ridge down the middle to help increase traction. Place the tapered end of the grip along the top edge of your racquet’s handle. You can begin from any side as long as you start at the top edge. This is a big issue for many people, so it was important that the sensation didn’t sacrifice too much in this area. If using the small rubber band-like device, simply pull it over the top of your overgrip to secure it. Finished Product
