The Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K represents the pinnacle of resin LCD screens, with the densest display and the highest ever XY resolution. The 7.1” 8K LCD has 1152 PPI, resulting in a print resolution of 22 µm. This marginally beats the Form 3’s 25 µm XY resolution, even though the latter is an SLA (not MSLA) resin 3D printer. The size of the screen is another important factor to consider when choosing a high-resolution resin printer. Resin 3D printers with smaller screens can be quite limiting, as you won’t be able to print large models without having to break them into multiple parts.

I think this is the best large-format resin 3D printer, but there are alternatives available. These include the Phrozen Mighty 8K, the most direct competitor to the Photon M3 Max. Runner-Up: Phrozen Mighty 8K The Sonic Mini 4K is one of the first entry-level 3D printers to have a specially developed 4K 6.1 inch monochrome LCD display. With this new technology, the Sonic Mini 4K creates incredibly high details of 35 microns and very high printing speeds, so that it only requires 1-2 seconds of exposure time per layer- compared to conventional LCD 3D printers with 7-8 seconds per layer. It comes with an extra large screen protector for the LED glass, which covers the glass and the slight gap around it. This makes keeping the printer clean super easy. The very first thing you should consider is the reason why you want to buy a high-resolution resin 3D printer. If you’re in the business of extremely detailed models, prototypes, or 3D printed miniatures, buying a high-res printer makes perfect sense. However, as I do a lot of small detail items, I wanted something with better resolution. So after a lot of research, I chose a Phrozen Sonic Mini 4K as my next printer. I have been printing since it arrived and it just blows my Photon away with much more detail. I thought a 4K LCD would be much faster, like 2-3 sec layers but in reality as I use Siraya Tech resins (some hard ones, like Blu and Tenacious) it isn't as fast as I had hoped. Still, the detail is definitely there and I am very happy with the results.
