However, if you're looking for a summary we'd say that QLED is a great option for brightness if you'll watch in bright, sunlit conditions; whereas OLED TVs offer better viewing angles and superior contrast for gorgeous movie-like images, as long as you can control the lighting. Is LG better than Samsung? LG's C-series OLED TVs are always the company's most popular, and the 42-inch C3 is the baby of the 2023 range. It's got a slightly less bright panel than the larger C3 models and it doesn't feature MLA or QD-OLED tech (which hasn't yet made it down to this sort of size), but it does boast the same exceptional feature set as well as the best overall picture quality available at this size. It's cheaper than its rivals, too. In our review we wrote: "Samsung's top-of-the-line Neo QLED 8K TV offered far better audio performance than we were expecting, with dialogue coming through in a particularly clear and prominent fashion." Of course, if you want the most immersive, cinematic experience then you'll need a soundbar. But if you're looking for an all-in-one solution with fantastic 8K picture, this is the best choice for you. You want the best TV and money is no object: The Samsung S95C ( #4 in this list) offers even better contrast, and the Samsung QN900C ( #5 in the list) is like this with even more brightness and 8K detail. You'll watch in a bright room often: This is the least bright OLED in this list, which means it's susceptible to reflections when watching during the day, or with bright lights on. A mini-LED TV for the same price would be better for daytime viewing.

The Samsung BU8500 is the company's highest-end TV from its 2022 range that doesn't include the more expensive QLED technology that Samsung is famous for. But that means you save a bunch on the price, and the image quality overall is still pretty much unbeatable at this level. We didn't have any issues hearing dialogue in movies, but if you're going to watch something like a Christopher Nolan mumblefest then you might appreciate Clear Voice Pro, a setting that makes spoken dialogue clearer. Sports Mode has a rather tinny quality but the Music mode is more naturalistic, with no huge emphasis on any frequency band. There are also Cinema, Game Optimization and Standard listening modes to choose from, so you should be able to find an audio profile you like. You can select different audio modes depending on how you place the TV, too. So whether it’s sitting on a TV cabinet, or wall-mounted, you can rest assured you’ll get the best possible sound quality.

Sony is another major player in the TV space. Its screens boast stunning picture quality and build quality. Although, like other brands in this list, there's a wide range across the board. One interesting difference about Sony is its really pushed its Cognitive XR processor, a processing chip added to its TVs from 2021 that boosts vision and audio performance. The C845K delivers outstanding sharpness and clarity with native 4K sources, and while its motion handling with 24p sources isn’t quite as refined and natural with or without processing active as the best rivals, it is fairly free from unwanted side effects and still looks natural enough to leave you immersed in what you are watching.

There's no one brand that does TVs better than the others, but there are definitely some TV makes that excel in certain areas more than their rivals.Chat Widget offers out-of-the-box cookie consent management, see here: Enabling cookie consent for the Chat widget & Web SDK The Philips OLED807 is one of the few TVs that we can confidently call glamorous. This is Philips' latest OLED TV and it's eye-catching in a whole bunch of ways. It has an incredibly thin screen and high-quality metallic finish offset to spectacular effect by Philips’ Ambilight technology. As you can probably tell from our list above, LG, Samsung, Sony and Philips tend to be the top-performing brands at the premium end, though all bring out a wide range of models each year. Our job is to help you find the best TV in your budget range, based on our extensive testing experience with these sets. We'll cut the overwhelming number of options down to just the most worthwhile, from cheap options to cutting-edge flagship sets. While TVs aren't known for their sound quality, the Panasonic LZ2000's 360° Soundscape Pro audio performance is on par with an upper mid-range Dolby Atmos soundbar. As we said in our review: "The soundstage is wide and high, and front articulation from the Technics-tuned LCR soundbar array is outstanding."

Shows, movies and games we played on the TV all sounded crisp and clear with easy-to-understand dialogue and solid simulated 3D sound. While the simulated 3D audio is never quite as good as a full Dolby Atmos setup—it’s not even close, really—it is a nice feature to have while you’re waiting to install a more fully featured AV solution. The A95K also follows previous Sony OLED TVs in delivering excellent sound quality. This is thanks to Acoustic Surface technology, where the TV’s screen essentially doubles up as its speakers. Sure, you'd get a cinematic experience pairing the A95K with one of the best Dolby Atmos soundbars, but the audio here is impressive.

8K vs 4K: What is the difference?

And the audio is important too – not everyone already has one of the best soundbars sitting around waiting to be connected to their TV, of course. Used to determine a user's inclusion in an experiment and the expiry of experiments a user has been included in. Used to ensure user session remains with the same AWS instance to improve performance and stability. So which is better? Opinion is divided. DTS:X is encoded in a higher bitrate so should technically be better quality audio. But Atmos claims to be more advanced, and capable of producing a higher quality sound at a lower bitrate. As is often the case, it comes down to personal taste.
